Citigo steering problem

Featured Replies

Rule 252 in the UK Highway Code:

Parking on hills. If you park on a hill you should

Park close to the kerb and apply the handbrake firmly
Select a forward gear and turn your steering wheel away from the kerb when facing uphill

Select reverse gear and turn your steering wheel towards the kerb when facing downhill
Use 'park' if your car has an automatic gearbox

This suggests that drivers 'should' turn the wheels when parking.

UPDATE..........

Nothing

Maybe there is a difference between turning your wheels to the side and leaving them on/near full lock. Several makes of car have had problems with leaving the steering on/near full lock. Which has caused sensor failures and leaking seals?

I wonder why? I can't understand.

If the hand brake fails the car will roll towards the kerb rather than rolling down the hill?

Of Course. I meant those gears. It doesn't make sense. Those will turn the engine wrong direction. Though it doesn't blow the engine right away, it still doesn't make sense. Do they think that engine cannot turn wrong direction? It surely can, and it's not good.
