New Octavia RS aproaching

Featured Replies

Theres a car down the road from me looks exactly like the one in the picture with a twin round exhaust, its a TDi so I assume its the sport. It is very nice looking. I put one of my Briskoda cars on it, dunno if they came on here.

Typical skoda sales, pile em high and sell em cheap, taking up valuable disabled parking spaces in their quest for world domination.

I was going to say the same thing but thought better of it as that's the garage I take my car to. :D

My friend is the Skoda - Brand Manager for Romania - He has been at Mlada Boleslav for one of their regular meetings and among other things he drive the new RS. As he had other things to do and not beeing an RS fan he didnt pay to much attention to details (he told me something about alcantara seats) - The delaers in romania will take orders starting november as quota for romania is already set. Regarding the diesel version there will be something of 160-170bhp (he will check on his notes and i will come back to you) starting april 2006

Due to his position - he will not be the one releasing pictures before the official campain - first official pics to be expected in september.

He He true, there are plenty of vacant disabled spaces though, being a new building they have thought of that.

This sounds right as my dealer in Halifax UK confirmed the new VRS Octavia will be available in the UK in November in both 200bhp petrol & 170 bhp diesel versions. He gave the impression both versions would be available in November

Good to see he's doing his job well then. I hope the UK brand manager puts a bit more effort in.

006 - Unfortnately he has to focus on the models representing 99.9% sales in romania and less on the RS - thats because of the romanian consumer profile. I think that 90% of car buyers looking above 150bhp did not consider RS as an option.

Maybe this will improve with Octi II RS

Hmmm ' date=' that seems about the same price as the current 140bhp sport.

Realistically I wouldn't expect to get change out of 18k for a new VRS[/quote']

And for 2k more you could have a 260 EVO  , will this be the start of Skoda out pricing themselves?

As much as i love the Octy i would'nt spend 18 k on one.

Totally agree.

The entire point of the octy vRS is the amount of preformance you get for your money. There are better cars out there but not for the same cost !

IMO its still one of the best performance cars around on a

Tough isn't it? You want the toys and luxuries (leather, dual-zone climate, etc...) because the new model really needs to out-spec the old one. However, the price of the new car is very very high considering what else you can get for the money.

The 260 Evo isn't really in the same market; it's a different car (try sitting in one - gorgeous seats and VERY cheap dashboard) and it's competing for a different market segment. However, if they get the spec right, then it's entirely possible they could be a credible rival for some of the more mainstream stuff like the Impreza WRX.

If I were Skoda, I'd be really agonizing over the price, especially with stuff like the VXR Astra on the way.

EDIT: I assume the photos are of "disguised" cars; ie: no bodykit? And will the estate be available from launch?

I certainly hope the new ones a but more agressive looking than that - only the twinpipes looked different- i dont want something as blatent and uncompromising ( i do 45,000 miles per year ) but i do want something that looks the part

That looks really plain hope they don't expect

So what is the new vRS trying to compete with? I bought mine because it was quick and affordable,

I'm rubbing my hands together already.

I hope the new Octy vRS is going to be a right royal rip off and nobody buys it just to prove to Skoda they have well and truly lost the plot, both in design and customer requirements of the RS. :rotz:

Well done for getting some photos Azzouz  .Am still surprised no one else has managed to snap anything :(

I am french but i love Skoda !

Where did the photos go ?? BPM is looking for them :)

I can see them now...

Damn - plain is the word for it. I'm not impressed. Only time will tell...

Those pictures have come up on every Skoda board in Europe, but I can't see them have anything to do with the new RS. The fact that they were taken in the Czech Republic isn't enough reason...

For one, the new RS will be a hatchback first, with the estate to follow months and months later. Second, where's the bodykit? Third, the only bit of "bodykit" on the car is an ordinary piece of black tape just above the black rubber part of the bumper.

I think that's just a lowered Czech 2.0 TDI with some nice after-market alloys and exhaust.

I agree, looks like an estate sport verson, to me with the bottom spoiler taped up over the rear reflectors.
