Im going to go with a custom one from travall (online retailer) as the guard doesnt require any drilling etc and is a more similar design to my current dog guard which has never provided me any issues with rattling etc. Sturdy as a rock too. No matter how good the skoda one is I just dont want my brand new car to have to be drilled lol.

I've looked at the Travall site and at the moment the only item they list for the Octavia 3 estate is...don't laugh...a non-spill dog bowl!!!

 

I assume they'll be adding one in due course, I had their guard in my old Disco3 and it was great...if they've sorted one by the time I get my VRS then I'd consider it, as you say, much nicer not to drill a new car

I've spoken to them and they are waiting for the designs to come through. They will definitely be making one as dog guards for octys are one of their best sellers lol. I'd rather wait a bit and get that if needs be the hounds simply wont be going anywhere in the car til I get one lol

Yes...pics please...(including Goldens if possible)....we've just ordered a VRs estate as a dog wagon for our pair

Will try and load them up tomorrow and take a few, am currently waiting to get a bumper protector fitted too before I do too much dog loading and unloading!

Once we all get our cars and dog guards we should have a photo thread with our dogs in the cars with all the additional bits we but just for them! (In my case, dog guard and rhino boot liner already and I haven't even got the car yet!!)

Been following this forum for a while and thought it was time a made a contribution !

 

I took delivery of my new 2.0TDI SE estate Octavia a couple of weeks ago.  Its a company car, so cant really go with the official Skoda dog guard due to the required drilling into the roof.  The lease car company wouldnt be impressed with holes in the roof lining when I return the car !

 

Anyway, I previoulsy had a mk5 and mk 6 golf (1.6 TDI) which had the official VW dog guard and at the weekend thought it'd be worth trying to see if it fit. I can report it fits fine, its not 100% perfect (a bit of a larger gap around the top right/left hand sides than the official Skoda part I presume) but it does the job fine.

 

Feels sturdier in the Octavia then it did in either of my Golf's !  You can pick these up for a bout £50 to £60 second hand. 

Will post some pics later if people are intrigued/interested

Are you happy with the quality if the rhino liner? Obviously you can't comment on the fit yet. I was planning to get something similar and these look good.

??? - official Skoda dog guards have never required any drilling.

Read this thread to see how the mark ii dog guard worked and was positioned - very easy owner installation in 20 minutes.

I would be very surprised if the mark iii has a drilling solution!!!

Yes im happy with it. Obviously it hasnt undergone the fitting test or even the dog testing yet lol but feels fine to me! (I havent unfolded it yet as thought its easier to keep it folded in the packaging). Certainly doesnt feel like it would rip or tear easily anyways

Thanks Matty, that's food for thought. It looks like the bottom and top sections are on piece? I'm being quite awkward as I would like one that allows me to drop the seats and load things through while the guard is still fitted. I suppose this means that other top half only golf mk5/6 guards will also fit.

Cheers for the photos I too only really want the top 'half'. Think Im probably going to stick with my original plan of getting one from travall and hope Briskoda have worked out a discount with them again *cough* admin *cough* hehe
