New vRS,.. sorry to say not impressed.

Featured Replies

We have little one(s possibly).  Still too big for Mrs Fox. :)

I quite like them though, but I wouldn't part with the Yeti.

  • There's definitely a pattern that Mk2 vRS owners don't like the Mk3 vRS.   Disclaimer: This is a very general observation made by one person based on a number of posts on one specialist forum and is

I've had a good look around the new Vrs, cheap looking and those awful exhaust trims. looks like they ran out of money when it came to the rear.   Not for me, the FL MKII is just my cup of tea.  Tim

  • v0n, Carfile are offering the vRS 2.0TSI Hatch at £19k. Against the options you've given:   - Seat Leon FR 1.8T for £17k - Octavia is more expensive, but a noticeably larger car. I wouldn't expect a

Oooh bossfox twins!!! How exciting!!!!

Well, without wanting to go off topic, bun no.2 in the oven and due at the beginning of December.

Hope it all goes to plan.

Back on topic...

May need a mk3 VRS instead of a Yeti after all... (but I'm holding out as I really like the Yeti)

Aww congrats a December baby they are the best! (Like me!) and whoops soz thought you meant two in the oven hehe

Was a mkII driver & now have the MkIII albeit an estate.

Yes I would agree the looks are not quite as in your face as the old fl

but the drive is 10x better IMHO

I can see people's points and i do agree. The mklll vrs is nice but I do think the materials used are a step back on the interior. I also think its gone very passat like.

I only have my 2012 vrs cr a few months and quiet pleased with it all round.

The new vrs seats seem a bit issue to me with quality. I can see a lot of warranty claims in this department I'd say they will go shabby quiet fast.

The V40 is a much smaller car than the Octavia, albeit just as expensive. I test drove one and liked it - until I tried reversing. The stylist has been given free rein and rear visibility is appalling: from the driving seat the rear window looks like a letterbox.  The natural Volvo competitor to the Octavia estate is the V60 - and that's a lot more expensive.

I'm a mk2 awaiting a mk3 which is on order! And I was holding off ordering a v40 r design to look at the mk3. Whilst I liked the r design to get the same power and options you are looking at 27k and probably the d4! Iv read with some interest some mk2 members not happy with the mk3. It's personal preference. I test drove one and thought it was a lovely place to be......cannot wait to take delivery

Shock! What someone doesn't like the new VRS? Well that's what's known as being human. We are all individuals with choices and likes and if the OP doesn't like the MK3 VRS, well sobeit. The OP has there choice and I wish them every luck with whatever there next vehicle is, be it a Volvo or not!!

Thanks Puma.

I take zdeneks point on size, bit of an odd one that, though the natural competitor should be the V40. Skoda's policy has been to upsize on each new model putting it more in the mundano/vectra camp rather than the golf it was based on. The mk3 is now 100mm longer than the mk2. perhaps its "sized" its way out of the niche it had created

I think when/if Skoda introduce VAT savings for the Mark III I bet we will see more:

Its all down to the price.  As a Blackline owner I am only willing to pay slightly more for the next generation VRS.

I don't own one, but I was very taken with the looks and interior styling of a Mk 3 Oct vRS in Race Blue in the dealers when we were buying my wife her Citigo.  Once my daughter is out of her baby seat and can sit on a small booster seat, the Scenic will be gone and I will be getting an Octy estate.  Not 100% sure if it will be a vRS as I have not had great experiences with 'sporty' versions of cars in terms of comfort, so it will depend on a test drive.

You are joking, the interior quality in the Mk3 is way ahead of the mk 2.

I am inclined to agree.

Overall, I think people were picking up the mk2 for around £18k, now they are around £23k ???

That's a big jump and so people have big expectations.

I liked the Octy VRS, but the price is the headline figure that gets peoples attention.

I did think the seats were a little bit cheap/hardwearing.  But then I can't remember what they are like in a mk2.

When the Rapid first came out, I compared it in the show room with the then current Mk2 FL Octavia.  The Octy interior was better, but not shockingly so.  Now comparing the Rapid to the Mk3 Octy the difference in quality is so vast that it is hard to accept that they are the same make.  Surely it would be more economic for Skoda to use one supplier of plastic rather than two such widely different standards?  The Octy 3 is every bit as classy inside as any BMW I have sat in, the Octy 2 was more on par with Ford, the Rapid with Proton or Kia.

IMO...

The Rapid and Octy seats are not that different.

Although I did have the £400 sport seats in my Rapid.

But just about everything else inside the Octavia is better.

But then it's around £8k more and designed for a completely different, more premium, segment.

So it should be really.

The Rapid is a budget run around with maximum space at minimum cost.

The Octy is taking the Skoda brand more upmarket.

I can understand the sentiment as I have a mkII vRS Hatch and I am changing to a mkIII Elegance estate. As I need the extra practicability of a estate and the vRS wasn't available when ordered, but even after seeing the VRS (I was even given permission by my beloved to change) I prefer the elegance.

Because of the delays in my delivery, I did look at others like Mondeo, V40, A6, i40, etc. The only 1 that came close was the Mazda 6, but I stuck with the Octavia, and hopefully in a few weeks I not regret it.

the boot is bigger on the mk3 so fatlad can eat some more kids.............

thats the main reason for our estate,,,,,,,,,the "Thing"

Nope I'm not joking. Iv heard the material on the seats is cheap cheap. Also whatcar says the mkll seats Were nicer.

Just mk2 seats are nowhere near as comfy

WhatCar you say? Fancy that ;)

Each to their own but after running a Mk1 Fabia vRS there's no way in hell I'm buying another car with light coloured seats.  I tried to clean my seats after a coffee spill - now just looks like I've had a trouser "accident".

(For info I've ordered a Mk3 vRS estate)

Nope I'm not joking. Iv heard the material on the seats is cheap cheap. Also whatcar says the mkll seats Were nicer.

Everyone please note the use of the phrase "I've heard", That means you have not actually tried seen or tested the seating in the Mk3 then. You are basing your remark on rumour & conjecture.   :mmm:
