I think the dyno results can only be used as a guide -- as the same car on their rollers once every day for five days would give different results -- this is the same with any rolling road.

The most important thing - is how it feels on the road --- which is just brilliant.

The improvement over standard can not be described - it has to be felt.....

100% agree with that sentiment - and 330i motorway-baiting becomes a serious possibility ;)

Hi everyone,

I thought I would just add a bit of info.

Our rolling road is inertia based, this means you have a fixed mass (850 kg in 4 rollers) which has a speed sensor which samples every 36 degrees of rotation up to a maximum of 16000rpm. The clever bit is done by the computer which calculates time taken to spin the roller up and increase in speed verses the gearing of the road wheel to engine rpm. When the car is first put on the rollers a reference is taken at 3000rpm in the gear of the power run, from this the software calculates the gearing and once the final run is done calculates the power figures.

Calibration run out is not an issue because you have a fixed mass and is certified to be within 0.5% with 0.2% repeatability. The only variable is the bearings on the rollers, these are matched and tested at the factory, if they started to fail it would only reduce the power figures.

We have now tested two RS

Well, err I was just about to post all that but you beat me to it.

PS when are you going to do my IHI Stage 3. :(

Indeed, mine is running 1.1 Bar and runs @227BHP 95ron fuel. I Wonder what would have been possible with 98ron fuelon Jabba's computer. The pre-run at 190 is in line with what others have been discoverying, earlier RS's were running 190 stock.

As both our cars are very similar spec, and the remaps done at same place with very similar temps -- you would be looking at around the figure I got -- you probably would just by switching to SUL -- as the knock sensors will be able to pick up the better fuel quality.

Still if your enjoying your car like I am mine(so far - just over 300 miles) then I know your having fun :D

Dave,

Any hints on navigating to Jabba?

I'll be going M50 -> M5 -> M42 -> M6 -> er, that's where all the online route planners start giving wildly conflicting advice...

Thanks

From M6 J19 - A14 > Kettering

A14 J7 - A43 > Stamford

A16 > Market Deeping

B1166 sp Crowland

The following was DGW's very usefull directions - took me straight there...

Entry to Clutton's Close is from the B1166 which, as you approach from the west, is called Gravel Causeway, West Bank, Kemp Street then Postland Road. Clutton's Close is to your right at the eastern end of Kemp Street, immediately before Hall St which is also on the right. Good luck.

Above probably not shortest route - but very good roads -- be carefull though -- a lot of speed cameras -- although well sign posted & very visible.

You will really enjoy the trip home tho -- but whilst your at Jabba - have a look at the recommendations on the wall in reception -- theres already a few names I recognise from here - on the wall.

P.S -- Cluttons Close is just a poor quality dirt road - it looks like your driving up someones drive(which if you got too far you are!)

Have you got AM or PM slot -- I was lucky to get a: An AM slot & b:relatively cool temps.

I still can't believe the difference it makes.

Dave,

Thanks for that - makes a lot more sense than the route planners.

I've got a PM slot - means that I can stay in SWMBO's good books by taking her to work first (she hates buses!). Just hoping that the weather will be resaonable (although I guess it won't make much difference; I'm after effortless driving rather than absolute power - anyway, I'll be lucky to get anywhere within a mile of your dyno plot)

FenL&K,

Mr. Panrix could not be more delighted at the stunning returns of Dave's remap. Mr. Panrix is still VERY happy with the bare 232.8Bhp that Nutty is running (with standard everything else) :D

All of which is reflected in Mr Panrix's driving style, which ranges from loony to "get out of my way NOW!!" :D

My point exactly. Still std everything else. But you have to admit, you were (are) rather proud of that 2.8 over the 230, weren't you? ;)

232.8 or 236.1 -- who cares ?? -- I'm sure Mr Panrix will concur that the new found performance is fantastic and a mere 4 bhp ain't gonna make a jot of difference !

Good point Dave. I was trying to make a somewhat light-hearted comment about the comparisons in bhp figures but obviously failed miserably. As long as everyone is happy with their cars, then who cares how many bhp they're pushing out??? (still reckon lb/ft is a better indicator of driveability)

In other words, has anybody of the guys here in the forum re-dynoed their car after a Jabba remap in another dyno workshop to confirm the results?

YES :)

Jabba's rollers seem very accurate.. Inertia rollers at the end of the day and inherantly accurate... Accelerate a known mass over time blah blah blah...

Mine has been on their rollers many times and when 1st upgraded to IHI produced 325bhp and 278lb/ft torque. A couple of weeks later, the car ran @ Stealth Racing's roller (also reputed to be accurate) and recorded 326bhp and 280lb/ft torque

Also for note...

Jabbasport have ran the Lupo VW Cup car all year, and when power checked after several races the Lupo was dyno'd on Superchips rollers..... and these read some 8-10bhp higher than Jabba's.

Go figure!

regards

Oh yes indeedy Torque is where it's at :D

Then everyone should be driving diesels :D

Colin, I agree with you to a point. But what a Jabba remap gives the 1.8T is thumping torque over a much wider rev band than a diesel - and the improvement in driveability (ie flexibility) is very noticeable.

Who needs a diesel, when you've got a torque converter to give you the best of both worlds?

And just imagine the diference a Jabba remap plus a torque converter gives!

I'm finding overtaking opportunities where none existed before (and still staying respectably close to the speed limits)

"Respectably close to the speed limits ??" -- which side ??

As for everyone should drive a Diesel.............
