I have run a modern fiat for 110,000 miles, and it was more reliable than my previous skoda! :P

however, witout really reading the rest of the posts in here to OP:  I agree the twinair engine is no where near as economical as the skoda... you simply WONT see the quoted mpg... whereas its easy to acheive in the citygo ;)

    Excellent review Richard

  • The twinair engine is not "fun".   It's agricultural, noisy and thirsty. Borrow one for a day.   So many reviews say they are good. The diesel is way noiser than a VAG unit, but the two pot twin

  • First thing I would to do to help with making your decision is to read some reviews on the twin air, from what I have read and spoken to my neighbour about (he has a 500 twin air) the thing does about

That's good to hear. Higher mpg and lower running costs are always pleasing to me.

My Honda CB500X provides most of the quick travel thrills I need anyway :)

ours has never seen less than 55 mpg, and i've had it up to 72 mpg easily with the right driving technique, and we've just got our tax renewal through £20 rocks! lol... (obviously its free if you go greentech!) apparantly if you use the fiats performance you see 40 mpg most of the time, even less in some reports! and the citygo engine is not without character, it has a nice little "thrum" being 3 cylinder :)

Nah - not really. Brockley is in Lewisham which is South London. We're more out to the West. In Putney, Wandsworth.

That big 500 is just another example of creating and milking a successful brand. Not my cup of tea all that marketing stuff, but I guess it must work.

I'd have to say it works. We had to lose our 500 when new baby came along, and ended up with a Nissan Note. Not a bad little motor all in all, but wifey would definitely have plumped for the 500 had it been available. I'm guessing that's where the marketing is at, young free and single 500 owners with a suddenly expanding family. As another poster put it, the 500L is a decent-size car that takes those well-loved styling cues into a larger sector.

IMHO the Citigo is more comparable to the Punto range.

I used to have a Punto (way back in 97) and loved it but by comparison to the Citigo it was a bit tinny.

I still marvel at the fact I have downgraded from a 2.4 litre V6 auto and yet am having just as much fun and I am ALWAYS at the back of the traffic queue trying to open her up.

Get SWMBO out in one and show her the PID...................... sold.

I'd have thought the Punto is more of a Fabia-sized car in Skoda terms.

Thanks again for all the comments. With no Citigo to play with till December I can only read and learn :)

But at least it's ordered.

Was reading about the PID today. The nav function sounds pretty comprehensive. At least more so than the basic TomToms and Garmins I have used.

Q. Can we create a route in Garmin's MapSource program and then export it to the device? Not essential but can be easier visualising back roads routes on a big screen.

I like the fact the CD will play a bunch of compressed file formats.

I like the fact the radio is DAB as well as AM/FM and was pleased to see that two phones can be connected by bluetooth at the same time.

Q. If phone A is being used as a background music source while using GPS will a call on phone B interrupt both or at least give you the chance to take the call.

Cheers,

Nick

enjoy

we know you will once the wait is over

Lots of Fiat fans on this thread, strange things.

There is a reason that Skoda always comes at, or very near, the top of all the customer satisfaction surveys (and Which? manufacturer awards)....and Fiat (and their dealers) always comes at, or very near, the bottom. Something to think about while you wait.

Does the radio do dab? I thought it was just am/fm? Un less integrated into pid?

I'm sure you are correct. I got that from reading the PID manual.
