Hello from Denmark

I've just ordered the new Octavia Combi Ambition 1.8 TSI DSG with the optional "Ambition Exclusive Sport Pack" which includes: Sports suspension, Golus 18" alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon, Bolero radio, Canton soundsystem and more. I save a lot of money by choosing this package. I would like to have upgraded to the Amundsen system because of the satellite navigation but since this package includes the Bolero system it is not possible to order the Amundsen (according to Skoda).

So I wondered if is was possible to upgrade the radio later? And will the GPS function then work?

Kind regards

Nick

See other threads about Columbus upgrade,

Essentially not very well, it seems that skoda themselves will need to programme the radio so that it fully works with the systems in your car, also the car won't have a gps arial so you would need to fit an aftermarket one and stick it to your dash or similar

Indeed.  See my other thread.  The new stereos are not codable in VCDS, so will at least need coding by a dealer.  The issue so far is with the component protection that needs removing by Skoda's central computer.  I'm still trying to get around that one!

Collected my new car last week and the dealer told me that they are not able to upgrade my radio but they now have a navigation module for the Bolero radio. After the installation you hold the "Media" button down and then it launches a navigation system from iGO. Unfortunately will the information from the navigation not display in MaxiDot.

Here's a link to the danish supplier: http://www.asmarketing.dk/skoda+navigation-skoda-octavia-2013

Is it a Skoda solution or aftermarket? What's the price of this thingy?

I've seen one of theese recently, but 900 Euro price tag for just an add-on to Bolero seems unreasonable. Enough to buy top-spec tablet for navi purposes...

The dealer told me that the upgrade will later appear in the accessory list. Price tag: 1200€!

We can hope that Skoda someday will allow infotainment upgrades...

I would love to fit this but at 900 euros its just too much money compared with £150 for a large screen tom tom from amazon/halfrauds, perhaps 300euros would be a more reasonable price.

andyvee, thanks for information
