AIRTEC inter coolers kit

Featured Replies

Just been looking in the eBay site and found air tech intercooler kit in different colours in silver or black intercooler with different colour pipe work and silicone hoses.

What a bargain if your looking for one. They look good too no cheap crap.

I have nothing to do with the company!

Ant

I saw them the other day do like like a good bit of kit but still £500 is no where near a bargain lol

I think it is when you look at the forge and dark side ones...

I fancy replacing my SS cooler with one, nice bit of kit if its as well made as all their other stuff, I'd certainly class the full kit as a bargain at that price.

Been looking at them for a while, I fancy replacing my SS cooler with one too, not the pipework just the cooler.

I'm a little disappointed to see its not a full pipe work kit.

Darkside's is expensive, but I'm waiting until I can afford it purely for how awesome their pipework is! Can't be doing with silicone joins everywhere personally - want it as OEM looking as can be for what it is...

It would be good to see a kit with full pipework, I must admit.

Bar the Darkside kit.

I did a custom kit on mine with full ally welded pipework for under £300 including paying for sum1 to weld it + buying a forge map sendor pipe ;).. dont get me wrong the welds are no where near a tidy as darksides but tbh theres only 1 u can see from above :D

Have a look at my build thread for pics.. its a couple of pages back iirc :)

Uv got to think outside the box to get a bargain m8 ;)

seems an excellent kit for the money

Highly rated with big power fords so will be a decent kit. Bit too rich for me though :(

Dan, what's it missing for it to be a full kit fella?

I came across their ad on EBay and in their description they claim it to be a full kit (whatever that means?!);

This intercooler will fit the following known applications ( NOTE- Crash bar alterations maybe required to fit some models)

Ibiza Mk4 1.9 130PD Diesel FULL KIT

Skoda Fabia VRS Diesel FULL KIT

VW Polo 1.9 Diesel

Take a look at that on eBay.

The only thing not making it a full kit is that they supply a coupler so that is sits into the top plastic intercooler pipe. Easily made up though I suppose it's easier for them to do it like that as it depends if the customer is running an EGR delete and what kind etc.

It still looks a very good bit of kit and a good price!! Considering that you get the IC brackets included.

I will no doubt buy the cooler soon then just swap them over and flog my standard SS cooler :)

Ah see what you mean, ta

You going to buy one?

Has nobody ever tried fitting a universal intercooler and knocking up your own pipework? It would be much cheaper than one of those 'bargain' kits.

No, no one has ever considered doing that or even done it :D :p

Looks like a quality piece of kit!

Their intercooler is £300, I wonder if they'd do the pipework separately for £200 then get a universal cooler for much cheaper?

I'm wanting to convert mine to hardpiping asap but really don't know who to go with for the cheapest. TX doesn't replace that many pipes and not a fan of the layout :(

I will be running one of the airtech intercoolers soon with darkside hard pipe

I messaged ND Tuning on eBay about a pipework kit for the Airtec intercooler but they said there wasn't one available from them..

I'm after one to replace mine long term.  I think I will have to go custom though due to the unique way it comes out the top and through in to the engine bay....

You going to buy one?

Well, I was considering the black one yeah, (looks pretty cool!) but I already have pd130 Forge FMIC sat in my garage..... not sure!

I've bought one and really like the look of it. It's a quality bit of kit. I've posted a few photos in my build thread.

I also picked up the DD pipe kit and it had swarf left inside and isn't really that "plug and play" - lots of persuasion is required for it to fit despite being the "Fabia vrs" version. So when you get a pipe kit, regardless of manufacturer / supplier, make sure it's clean from any debris before fitting!

Still, once cleaned up and installed, the whole lot is very nice and IMO, will provide much better flow capacity than the Forge FMIC which it's replacing on my car. Comparing the two is like chalk and cheese in terms of volume.

Also, be aware that as well as not providing a Fabia-fitting pipe kit (as already mentioned), they don't provide brackets so you either need to pick up DD's fitting kit assuming it'll fit the Airtec one (unlikely) or you'll have to make something up which is what Bobby did for me.

I did speak to ND Tuning and they were very helpful on the phone, and as previously mentioned, they're big in the Ford world so the quality has to be up there :)

Airtec are good. There's one on mates focus st.
