Has the R35 been in for its "optimisation" yet?

 

I've not driven it since.

Am trying to get it done next week, just in case the Blue Yeti isn't finished for Combe...

Yes I've read it and it's good IMO.

EVO seem to have the ability to drive the GT-R closer to it's limits and get beyond 8 or 9 tenths which others don't, so they see past the typical "playstation" comments that a lot of people quote.  Many of whom have never driven the car.

 

Several times I've heard other fast car owners say it's not for them as it's a bit playstation.

I'm never sure if they haven't actually driven it or they just can accept they paid more for a badge and a car that's slower.

I doubt you ever really see it's character on a test drive with the salesman sitting next to you.

 

Anyway, it makes me feel honoured to have the R32 and the R35.

They are two incredibly capable cars, although I do find the handling of the R32 more entertaining because you don't need warp 9 to get it moving about a bit.

 

That article is certainly worth a read for anyone who has an interest in the cars.

I drove a remapped one on a dream car day, they are epic. Wasn't allowed to turn traction control off though, but it did seem to allow a bit of drift on the tight corners. Absolutely amazing value for what you get, would love to own one.

R35 is booked in for it's optimisation on Friday so I can give it some stick from then on.

Handy as it may be the backup car for Combe on Saturday...

Not that I am biased being fortunate to have the 32 and 35.

 

Seen a gtr in this colour tonight, looked stunning, really stood out!

Dropped the GT-R in for it's optimisation service at 1,200 miles this morning.

It's on 1,203.

I drove up and down the A12 a bit on the way in...

 

Me: "After the optimisation can I spank it a bit?"

Nissan: "Yes, what have you got in mind?"

Me: "I might be taking it round Castle Combe tomorrow"

Nissan:  "Cool, yes that's fine"

What do they do on the optimisation service?

Adjust the clutches in the gearbox to make sure they have the right feel/performance.

Do a wheel alignment check as everything should have settled.

Check the settings for the air flow sensors, gas sensors and turbo chargers.

Ensure the two banks of three cylinders are balanced as each effectively runs independantly with it's own turbo.

I'll be interested to hear if it feels any different after the service. Do they give you much feedback on the degree of adjustments they make? How confident are you in the technical competency, training and attitude of the staff for this sort of thing?

Very confident.

Only the specially trained GT-R tech is allowed to work on the car.

If they don't have one, the dealership is not allowed to do any work on GT-Rs.

 

I dought it'll feel much different as it's mainly to keep it running correctly and as I've only done 1,200 running in miles I haven't been pushing it. (much)

It was twitchy almost every lap...
