Great company great track great cars = Fun by the bucket load !

The Skyline has gone in to get that small oil leak on the rear prop seal sorted out and get the intercooler fitted.

 

Had a bit of result with that as Ron at RK Tuning found a 900bhp Skyline being broken for parts and got the intercooler for £300 for me.

It's overspec for what I need, but that just means no heat soak issues and it's a design of cooler that should fit inside the standard bumper.

The core is about triple the standard thickness of the one I've got!

 

I'm sure the car was pulling the power back as the sessions went on due to heat issues, so that will all be sorted and I'll have another 100bhp to play with too.

 

While it's in for work that rear screen is coming out to be de-tinted or thrown away.  I don't really care which...

 

I'm going along to the GTROC Sprint Day at Castle Combe late in March and am back at Brands Hatch on Monday 7th April.

So plenty of oppertunities coming up to get more familiar with the car and start to build up the cornering speeds.

I'm getting about 0.8g at the moment and it's just not enough.  Effectively I'm losing time in every corner by coming off the power to much and not getting back it it quite soon enough.  Just not  used to a car with so much grip that likes to waggle it's tail out a bit.

 

It's quite nice having a car that takes real skill to master, rather than finding it all a bit easy due to electronics etc...

If I am honest the Skyline was so much fun at Brands that's I'm not so worried now.

I'm still not sure even the R35 is going to be able to complete with the R32 in terms of fun.

 

Be nice to have the Yeti done for the Brisky Castle Combe day though.

Or I'll be banned from coming out for two of my sessions.

Just bring the green Fabia, it will give everyone a taste of overtaking you for a change!!

Only done 30 miles back from the Nissan garage and they've certainly worked on the refinement a lot.

 

More to follow over the weekend...  think it's being called into action for the Tesco run tomorrow.

Should be fun, odd rear seats with long base cushions to cover the gearbox in the back actually means there is less legroom behind me than in my R32, even though the car is noticably bigger.

I've just realised my car owning is completely screwed up.

When you get a new GT-R and can't even get excited enough to take some pictures because you're tired... well, it says a lot doesn't it.

I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.

 

Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being.

Yes, they have worked a lot on the compliancy, comfort and ease of driving.  Making it a better GT car than any of the previous GT-R years.

It's got retuned steering, more insulation and a far better suspension system without the rock hard ride.

Apparently the BOSE system has noise cancelling too.

 

Only now it goes from a comfortable plodder to completely bananas at the press of a pedal.

And the new suspension just doesn't skip or jump over B roads that aren't smooth, like all the previous GT-Rs have.

 

It just grips, goes, slaps you round the face and asks if that's all you've got.
