VRS spare wheel is different from Mytyres recommendation

Featured Replies

I have just acquired a 62 plate Octavia VRS Mk2 TDI Estate. It came with an optional extra VAG spare wheel which has a 205/55/16 tyre on a wheel stamped 6.5J.

I plan to remove the fitted alloys and 225/40/18 tyres for the winter and fit "mytyres" steels and 205/55/16 tyres. The "mytyres" website shows the wheels to be 6J and not 6.5J as on the spare.

Does this matter and would it be better to have all 5 narrow tyres with same J value.

If this a is a daft question, apologies, I am new to VRS and tyres. Thanks for any help.

There are plenty on ebay.

easiest thing to do is just search 16 wheels in ebay then in the options on the left select used, then select vw, seat, Skoda and audi

Then order by distance. Then just browse until you find a cheap set you fancy that are 5x112

I have a set of 16inch octavia elegance alloys for my car.

Just had 2new winters delivered today, 205 55 16 94v xl Avon ice touring St for £74 a pop from camskill

Excellent tyres for the money and they've lasted 3winters and they were second hand when I bought them.

Thanks JRW.

My problem is understanding why the VAG spare is 6.5J yet the MYTYRES wheels are 6J.

Which is the correct J value for the VRS ?

6J will be fine, its just the width of the wheel, assuming the offset of the wheel is different as well otherwise they will sit inwards a little.
