Interested to see if there's a link to certain mods and turbo failure. Obviously mapped cars are probably going to come out worse but that's what I want to see.

You're missing the most important factor in turbo lifespan; the air filter!

 

That's assuming that the oil and filter change intervals are correctly observed and the correct grade of oil is used.

 

EGR delete is also useful to know since there is a link between EGR deletion and higher mean EGT which has been shown to shorten the lifespan of VNT's.

VAG paid for repairs etc thankfully.

 

Think the Variable blade system on the turbo on the 130 hp 1.9 PD is a bit weak as you hear of a lot of blown turbos.
