Window leak !

Featured Replies

Hi all

So the winter is on it's way and the weather has been pretty terrible lately.

Sat in my car today and noticed my arm getting wet. Seems that the seal between the car and the door was letting the water in...

I know that people have had issues with opening the door and letting the water in but im pretty sure it's not supposed to let water in... Has anyone else had this issue ? Took a couple of pictures to show were I mean.

Thanks :)

Try waxing & polishing the Paint you have shown in the pictures

& use some Tesco Tyre & Bumper Restorer, £1.99 (or similar) on the rubber seal and door surround.

You might find this is the end of the problem,

if not its a visit to the dealers.

ive also had this and typically the dealer tells me this is normal, i did similar to what George said and it is better but not perfect

You could always adjust the door striker latch so it sits in further to the frame.

Mine does this so i after it rained i opened the passenger door slowly and the water of the edge of roof ran down and wet all the seal got in and pushed the seal on the drivers door from inside and it was dry all the way round got opened the door and water ran down the seal closed the door and it dripped in the car

Where is this "door striker latch" and how do I adjust it?

Thanks

Do not adjust or touch it if the door gaps are correct & the door closes properly, if it looks right, it most likely is..

Look at the seal that closes along the roof, and see if that is sealing. or it is distorted.

That is where water can come down from.

It's the striker on the b and c pillars that the door latches onto when you close it. Octavia's had this problem too and adjusting them in a couple of millimeter done the trick :)
