Come on guys you have to explain why ...

XR2, weld it all up solid, strip interior, fit 2.0 Zetec, fit throttle bodies, grin! Oh and still have change for a good weeks **** up!

Skoda Rapid + porker engine  ok I doubt you could do that for

MK2 Golf 16V, bullet proof motor, Easy to work on, loads of cheap upgrade spares available and can still hold it's own with modern hot hatches!

although a MK1 would be nice, they are fairly rare beasties, getting body panels and spares is more difficult everyday and the brakes are cr*p! Would have to be a 1600 too as the motors are miles better than the 1800 units!!

Failing that a 1.9 pug GTI, although if I crashed it I'd be dead whereas the Golf I would survive :)

A Golf GTI MK2, have been round the ring several times in one specifically setup for the ring and the car was truely awsome. Its not all about speed on the fast bits but also how much speed you can carry through corners. The MK2 did that really well.

prob go for capri + rover v8

rwd cheap tuneable and fun as owt.

My Pug with a bit of change to do stuff with :)

Old Westfield with 1600 Crossflow or similar engine & decent rubber.

Power to weight ratio is the key, along with grip.

205 GTI 1.9. Even the 1.6

Simply because I have never had the chance to drive one and spent my youth lusting after one whilst pretending my metro turbo was a hot hatch.

Love to see what all the fuss was about, especially round a track

Well I have

A Skyline GT34...extremely cheap imports and extremely easy to modify....every penny is worth two horsepower pretty much, and with 2K, you'd be doing all right...put in some nice Recaros, clean out the engine with new throttle bodies, possibly increase bore & stroke...new medium sized turbocharger....

If i could find and decent Skyline for that money (and then afford to insure it, secure it and run it.......) :D

I'd probably go with the whole Caterham / Lotus 7 style kitcar thing too.

Golf MK II GTI

Honda CRX ED9

BMW 3XX older ones

Opel (Vauxhall) Kadett or Astra GSI

Capri 3.0S, make it handle and jobs a goodun :D

For a track car i would have to go RWD. A BMW E30 325 manual. New discs/pads, oil brake fluid, lowering springs. Should make an excellent track car.

Would have to be RWD and maybe a Manta v8 or TR7V8,this list could be long but I will leave it there
