Spacers for vRS estate

Featured Replies

Anybody bought any yet? What sizes do you need? 15 mm back 10mm front? How much for a set of four? Are they the same as the ones they fit to the Golf GTI MK7? Rung a few places up and no one seems to know owt!

What for? Why do we need them??

Let me know if you find some cause they are definitely required!! The stance isn't quite right from standard, needs beefing up just a tad

please do share any info you find out, as id agree the stance does need a tweak

The back wheel looks a bit mincy from the front quarter, hiding away in the arch. Never rectified it on my MKII vRS but I will on this one.

Try eBay and search for wheel spacers or universal wheel spacers, you'll tind loads of them in loads of sizes.

For gods sake make sure you buy HubCentric spacers which will centre on the hubs and wheels, buying universal spacers is a route to seriously wobbly wheels.  They may cost a little more but will save a lot of grief.

H&R do a spacer kit including the longer bolts. They also do the lowering springs for them.

Just remember that you need longer bolts, and that the spacer have to fit for your car.

I defo agree a minor tweek is required, has anyone taken the jump and purchased spacers?

Im having mine lowered first then deciding what to go for spacer wise

This is H&R with lowering springs and 30mm H&R spacers all round.

What are the costs?

For 30mm make sure your sat down, £230ish at a quick glance then iv got a price for £160 for the H&R springs

I can imagine any spacers would reduce the life of the wheel bearings, and the larger the worse it will be.

Anyone been running them for significant mileage on a mk2?

Yes thats my concern at the minute, going to lower then see what it looks like

I wasnt sure it would need as much as 30mm but good to see an example.

Where did you find the photo?

When i measured from the wheel face to the arch it was 30mm.

If you search H&R 28833-2 (part number), it will come up with the H&R website

Had spacers on mk2 for about 35k, car has done 65k total did have a wheel bearing go about 15,000 miles ago. But my previous mk 1 without spacers also had a wheel bearing go similar age and mileage. So I believe it makes no difference. Mine are 16mm and 11mm front 30mm sounds big, most mk2 run what I have, many only space the rear. FYI I have Never had a rubbing issue even when extremely fully loaded.

Just a stupid question, do the lowering springs reduce the ride comfort ?

Dont suppose you have any pics ? trying to decide if its going to be noticable.

The wheels sit in the arch quite a lot on the mk3 cant remember but don't think the mk2 is anywhere near as bad

Not much of a photographer im afraid. A quick search on mk2 form should throw up a lot of pics U want to see.
