  • No fuss from me Just found it annoying sat in the works car park 5 mins after everyone else had gone home Only sharing my purchase findings, thats all If people dont feel the need or have the same

Have seen these items and the good reviews... but have never really had a problem. Do Skodas REALLY mist up more than other makes....and, if so, why?

My only problem was with a Mk1 Fabia which had that well-known rear doors fault that allowed rain into the rear footwells...hence, lots of moist air and condensation inside when the temperature dropped. These silica gel bags would have been brilliant then...but the Citigo hasn't misted up when parked...maybe because it's garaged !?

I am off to purchase these, the wives Fabia VRS only does short journeys four days a week and quite frankly it does not have condensate on the inside of the windscreen it has lots of water, to the point when you wipe it with a cloth it runs allover the dash and down your arm, this is with A/C too.

 Off to fleabay, thanks Damo

Every Skoda I have ever had (Six) had this problem

My mate at work, has this problem too.

I think it is the door seals, and how the water traps along the sills

Maybe so

I expect, should you park it up outside on a damp day, it would

Not saying for anyone to rush out and buy these, but they have helped me overcome an annoying problem thats all

If it helps anyone else, then great

Bought two, just wait for the postman now

haha, you dont hang around do you :D

No mate, your review is good and only yesterday the wife was nagging about condensate on the windows so it is a no brainer!

Also one of my pet hates is a smeary or dirty windscreen and after wiping moisture off the inside always leaves streaks and marks so this will be just the job.

I think you should do what I did then James.

Give the windows inside a proper good clean with a good quality glass cleaner.

This will help combat the condensation, as clean glass doesnt hold moisture as much.

Then place the bags as close to the screens as possible whenever parked up.

Remember to move the dash one before setting off though, as once or twice I forgot until it goes flying to one side on a corner :D

If the fabia is really that bad, it might be worthwhile placing both bags on the dash and using the rear heated screen if that is misted up.

I bought one of those absorbent sponge wipers, but like you said it does cause marks, so this has worked out better for me :)

Again, if the Fabia is that bad, you could always apply some of that anti-moisture gel to the inside windows, as you will no longer have to wipe them as the bags will be drawing out the moisture now

have a look in ASDA or Poundland for a 'Damp Trap' :)

Something like this  I just pop one in the back of the front seats in the pocket :)

Us Fabia boys know all about damp and how to solve it :D

I wonder if you can place silica gel bags in the bottom of the pollen filter housing or in the heater pipes, this will then dry the air as it enters the car..

Lee, I am obsessed with clean glass, I can assure you windscreen is spotless

That would do the job Lee, but I like the ones I have (albeit a bit more expensive)

They can be hung or placed and are in handy velcro fastening sacks

And yes, I have had a Fabia vRS so I know what your saying ;)

Unfortunately damp air gets in the car in lots of ways...today here it's wet shoes (puddles on the rubber mats) and wet outer clothes...and heavy breathing!!

Heavy breathing oxonboxn, I wonder what you are doing in your car  :wonder:  :giggle:

The vents were just an idea so as when the heater is set to demist the windscreen it might help,  I will see how we get on with the tea bags as Damo is using.

Thats got me thinking...

These bags will probably come in handy for any of you that likes to go dogging...

All that panting would usually mist the windows up in record time, especially in such a small car.

Not to mention the wet fur and paws :D

Both the citigo and fabia have/had this issue. The octavia however doesn't. Maybe it's because I have the climate on all the time. Yes the aircon is on in the citigo does solve the problem until stop start kicks in and then the screen starts to mist up.

Annoying as I don't really want the aircon on all the time as it's not mpg friendly.

Might have a go with them Damo and see if it helps.

This forum has gone to the dogs!

Can I just set the record straight...for those with an overactive imagination. The heavy breathing was because I had run to the car in the pouring rain for several minutes....hence wet shoes and clothes as well!.

OK we believe you  :giggle:

Interesting write up thanks :)

I'm yet to experience this as my cars garaged at home and parked in a warm workshop at night at work :)

All small cars have this problem which, in the Fabia's case isn't helped by by door leaks. There is a smaller amount of air in the small car which quickly becomes saturated with moisture from the people in the car and the moisture will then condensate on the coldest parts, i.e. the windows. It doesn't help that cold air will hold less moisture than hot so first thing you have the worst of all worlds. The proof of this is demonstrated when you put 4 people in an Octavia first thing when it's cold and you have the same situation. The answer-don't breathe or get a mask that vents to the outside or, if you can, heat the car with a fan heater first thing.

And do not use recirculation. More heat and more fan speed that's the key.

Might have to get some silica gel packs or a dehumidifier - it took about 10 mins of air con the other day just to see enough to pull away,

Top of this thread is a link to some silica packs from Ebay

Doesn't make much difference to the mpg in the Citigo, rather be able to see through the windows than save a miniscule amount of fuel.
