  • Thats got me thinking...     These bags will probably come in handy for any of you that likes to go dogging...     All that panting would usually mist the windows up in record time, especially i

  • "Annoying as I don't really want the aircon on all the time as it's not mpg friendly." Doesn't make much difference to the mpg in the Citigo, rather be able to see through the windows than save a mi

  • No fuss from me Just found it annoying sat in the works car park 5 mins after everyone else had gone home Only sharing my purchase findings, thats all If people dont feel the need or have the same

Damn -missed them then :(  Only saw some with £6 delivery?

Just ordered the 1.1kg ones for the wifes Citigo and my Yaris! Will see if one bag per car works or I might have to get more??

Haven't tried just the one in, so cant really say how good that will be, but Im sure it will be fine up against the windscreen

The one i have on the parcel shelf is probably overkill anyway

OOPS!  I have received my parcel today containing the silica gel as recommended by Damo, in my hast to order them I did not realise that 1=2 bags so now I have 4    will be as dry as Arizona in the Fabia with all this silica drawing moisture from the air

You might need to start using eye drops if you put all four in...

I had a GOLF GTI a couple of years ago, that started to steam up when the pollen/cabin filter was old and needed replacing. I'm trying to find where it is in the Fabia MK 1?

Jojo

Ours work a treat in our Citygo and Ocky. One question though. When thinking of regenerating them what colour shoud the indicator be? and do people microwave the bags in the holder or just the bags. The indicatorson mine are brownish at the moment?

I dont bother with the indicator

Just shove the lot, bag n all in microwave every few days

It does tell you on the indicator what colour it should be, I just dry them every now and again as a matter of routine

  • 1 month later...

I have had my bags about 5 weeks and have been quite happy with the results although with all this bad weather I thought they weren't quite as affective so I bought them in and put the in the microwave. After using them again I noticed I was loosing some of the internals, when I took the bags out I found both bags have splits in them! I am disappointed in this as I have tried to be careful with my handling of them, has anyone else had this?

If not does anyone know if I can get replacement bags? At the moment I have sealed the splits with tape, not ideal and probably won't last!

Oh dear :(

Have you overheated them in the microwave?

Maybe a few hours on the radiator is better then

Cant see why they still wont be effective taped up though (or sewn maybe?)

Its the crystals what soak the moisture up and not the bag, as you can buy loose crystals anyway.

In a pouch is just to keep them neat

Anyway, just see how they operate now

Who did you buy from on Amazon? Seal diving products? £16.20

Got mine off ebay not Amazon, but yes it was Seal Diving Products

cool cheers damo, defo need one for mine, takes a while to clear, but usually better with air con on :)

Sewn, Oh dear no!!

Not sure the tape will hold with the damp, but it still seems to work.

I had mine from Seal Diving ,they were split on arrival got in touch and the guy could not have been more helpful apologies new packs in the next post.

Suspect rough handling in post was the cause.

Found they do work so all in all quite pleased.

You've jinxed me mate

Got mine out to heat them tonight and noticed a bag had split :(

Its got damp on the seam and come open

Im guessing the others will follow suit shortly.

Im debating whether to put the entire lot in a lidded tupperware container and pop the lid off when I park up?

Anybody any better suggestions? (other than bin the lot)

surely you can just re-stitch the seam?

Its paper type material, and looks like it'll go again when it gets damp.

Would it still draw the damp in through a sock or similar do you reckon?

For moisture control in my former & current car, I use an old pillow case with some colour-indicating silica gel which I got from eBay. Every 6 months or so it's baked in an oven for a few hours to regenerate it - I empty the pillow case into a large over-the-sink strainer which cost around £4 from Home Bargains and has the rubber handle covers peeled off.

I think I use around 2 or 3kg of it in the car.

Some fine brass/steel/alu mesh bags would be fantastic, so that they could just be shoved in the oven, but I couldn't find any suitable when I last looked.

I reckon a woollen sock would do it, they are fairly "air-ry" socks.

Wool absorbs water. Nylon would be better.
