Smoke and high oil use on 1.2 Fabia (6 valve model)

Featured Replies

Hi All. I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions about the cause of smoke and high oil consumption on my 2003 Fabia 1.2 (6 valve model). The car does not smoke at all under load. The times when it is very noticeable is after not having your foot on the throttle (eg going down a hill or after idling) and then going back on the power - it then produces plumes of smoke. It is also using masses of oil (ie I am checking/topping up the oil level after a long drive). So it looks like oil is being drawn in under the intake vacuum. Given the very high smoke quantity (and also quantity of oil used) I don't think it is valve guides that have gone (I would think this would typically be less). I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions for what could be causing it?

Thanks in advance.

Valve guides are the most likely culprit or a cracked head which is less likely. Either way the heads got to come off, I would fit a good secondhand head and bin the old one.
