Zeb's Octavia MK2 VRS - A few little tweeks here and there...

A quick update, the wheels and coilovers have to be on hold as someone hit the rear end of my car. Front bumper respray, rear bumper respray plus alignment, dent removal/s all will be done next Friday. It will cost a bomb but may as well get it all done in one go.

  • Probably going to be of limited interest TBH Zeb, mine's more go than show and won't ever get decked on 19s.

  • I get that 100%, I'm trying to make a comparison between the Passat OE fit you referenced and the Octavia OE fit. I've read through the thread and made several posts in it so I know what Zeb is try

  • Depends what size centre bore the Speedlines are.......whatever it is it needs to come down to 57.1 for the Octavia

Update:

1 of the Speedline BBS wheel was buckled and twisted, when it went for wheel balancing. Had to fork out £150 to find a spare wheel online, some **** hit the rear end of my car, needs a bumper respray and get it aligned, and today some kind B*****D decided to scratch my car.

All is not going well for me, but hopefully the car should be sorted before Castle combe.

Update:

Some A$$ decided to scratch my car yet again! Car will be going this friday to remove all scratch marks and all the bits n pieces to the exterior. On the other hand I've bought a set of Eibach Pro-line springs 45mm drop, will be going in next week for fitting.

Still on the hunt for a set of decent tyres to go on my Speedys.

Who's told you these springs will drop your car 45mm?

  • Author

My usual supplier SJ Concepts they are VAG Specialists. Spring are Eibach Sportline, I was told they will go down to 45mm. Demon Tweeks and Awesome GTI sell the same springs, described that it will go down to 45mm.

Sportline springs will drop that far (well more like 45 minus the 10-12mm your car is lowered over a non-VRS car) and they will fit but my understanding was these weren't sufficiently rated for the axle weight. Well, when I was considering them anyway.

  • Author

Yeah, that's right...VRS models dropped down to about 20mm, so will drop another 25mm on these Sportline. Is that something to worry?

Is yours on coilovers or springs?

I think you should see a good 33-35mm drop on the sportlines, but be aware of the axle weight rating.

Mine is on H&R coilovers, there is a full write up in my build thread.

I will have a look at your thread :) I'm happy with that low-ness on springs with 19's.

Pics of my scratched car, and rear end damage :( N/S front wing is scratched all the way (no pic yet)

Should be an easy fix, your description made it sound a lot worse but good that it'll be sorted out painlessly.

Pics don't any justice it looks much worse in the flesh, plus theres a loads of dents in the car. Feels like I'm driving a banger, not long left till car goes in workshop.

I will have a look at your thread :)

I have read your thread, so gave me a few ideas to do on my Octy. My turbo is on it's last stage, will probably carry on going for roughly 6 months at most. Any suggestion on turbos? Was thinking hybrid turbo?

A little more research would be needed regards the hybrid as yours is a diesel. Not heard of any myself tbh

  • Author

I spoke to Beach Buggy Turbo's, and they don't do any turbos for tdi engines.

Got the car back yet Zeb?

Talk to Darkside next then. There are quite a few companies that build a hybrid for a diesel.

Not yet, car is still in workshop will get it back tomorrow :D So far all dents been removed, front bumper respray, rear bumper respray plus alignment, front grill respray in gloss black, they were unable to remove the scratch marks but buffed it out to an extent where you can't see them. Car will be fully mopped tomorrow inside and out.

I will give darkside a call and see what they come up with. I know they had  VW Jetta with stage 2 upgrade, I think it was a non hyrbrid turbo.

This is what I've been driving so far, with the big old loud exhaust (does sound really nice).

Finally after a long 6 days without my baby, I got her back today :) Thanks to the rainy weather you can't see her clearly in the pics.

She's been fully mopped, all dents gone, both bumper resprayed :D Scratch marks are hidden, maybe later on I will get resprayed.

Once the weather is cleared, I will fit springs, and wheels on, along with a few other bits :D
