Zeb's Octavia MK2 VRS - A few little tweeks here and there...

Today, I thought I'll fit new N/S Fog lamp along with the uprated 100W xenon H1 bulbs, and retrofit HID kits. But all went pear shaped, firstly the fog lamp has 2 screw bolted upwards so I had no space whatsoever to remove the damn thing. I'm going to hand it it my local garage to fit fog lamp. Secondly, thanks to the lovely windy weather and rain I had to cancel fitting HID kits

The only thing I fitted today were LED sidelight bulbs which looks waaay better, even though it was a pain to remove them.

HID Kit will fail it's MOT so going to book it in for an MOT on Monday, then fit HID Kit afterwards. Eibach Sportline springs will be fitted next Wednesday. My Speedlines are in the garage catching dust :(

  • Probably going to be of limited interest TBH Zeb, mine's more go than show and won't ever get decked on 19s.

  • I get that 100%, I'm trying to make a comparison between the Passat OE fit you referenced and the Octavia OE fit. I've read through the thread and made several posts in it so I know what Zeb is try

  • Depends what size centre bore the Speedlines are.......whatever it is it needs to come down to 57.1 for the Octavia

Some little update.....

I've ordered new black skoda badges front and rear, car has been booked in to fit Eibach Springs on Thursday along with MOT

MOT first then springs fitted after. Wheels be fitted either mid March or early April, before Castle Combe.

HID's will come off before it goes for MOT, then fit them after :D

Eibach pro kit? 20mm I take it? :)

Nope :) Eibach Sportline 45mm :D

Got a link? I thought Eibach didnt make a 45mm spring! I'd much prefer Eibachs to H&R's!

Apparently Eibachs, H&R, KW Springs are all made by 1 company. I bought mines from SJ Concepts, South Wales. Demon-tweeks, Awesome GTi, and Larkspeed sell them. Paid £165 for Sportline springs.

Sportlines were never made for the Octavia, probably in part because they're rated for about 950kg per axle whereas the Octavia just tipped the 1000kg axle weight scales (or so I understand). I learned from another thread that the current range of Sportline springs for the Golf 7 are TUV approved for the Golf but not the Octavia, probably because of the weight ratings.

Re the makers, there's definitely some tie in (like Bilstein make H&R's shocks to H&R's specs, somebody else makes springs, etc) but I guess they will all be made to the brand owner's specification and will somehow be different.

Which is presumably why my Monotubes are massively different to the B14s I had first.

I can only assume you ended up getting Sportlines for a Golf or something similar if they don't make them for the Octy. Will be interested to hear how it goes when they're fitted! :) I've been considering dropping mine but I think I'll need to go more than the 20mm from the H&R springs.

When I made the order, I wasn't told that Eibach don't make sportlines springs for Octy...? Like you mentioned above, I assume the sportlines are from a MK5 Golf or Audi A3? A few more days till springs are fitted will post pics once fitted, in the meantime I will clean up and polish my Speedy's :D  VRS Models are lowered by 20mm, so it's better if you go for either Eibachs pro-line or H&R 35mm or 40mm.

Pads fitted, Discs fitted, MOT Passed :D However the springs I thought I bought were/are the wrong ones, they were meant to be Sportline but it turned out to be Pro-Kit. With all the excitement I never opened the box and handed to my mechanic. Got the car back, opened the boot to see it's pro kit 35mm drop :(

The company I bought the springs are now shut, so will need to speak to them and sort it out! Otherwise I will just leave them as they are.

That's unfortunate! Hate when something like that disrupts the plans. Hopefully you can get them changed!

I will chase them up tomorrow, don't want to fork out another £130 to fit Sportlines, unless they pay for it or fit it for free.

Not good news zeb, things don't seem to be going right for you ATM. Got any pictures with the springs fitted?

Ah bad times Zeb :(

Cars are meant to test you :D

Did the garage actually fit the springs then?

I have a feeling your reseller will tell you there is only one kit for the Octavia.

Afraid so springs were fitted yesterday :( Not a happy chappy, they will look **** when I fit my 19's. Car looks stock even with eibach springs fitted, might go lower within a few days or so. Will call them after lunchtime.

Eibach Pro Kit springs fitted a few days ago. Not impressed with springs as they look stock. Been told it will take sometime to settle down, so going to wait a few more days if not, then I will change them to something else. Will post pics tomorrow.

Any suggestions on tyres? I fitted 235/35/19 on 1 wheel and there's no poke, so want a little poke on rear wheels.

You won't get poke by just fitting tyres, poke is where the rim pertrudes the arch slightly. You'd have to space the rears but you'd need to be careful of room. 5mm spacers would take you down to et28

Maybe try a 225 tyre?, what rim size you running 9x19 or 8x19?

Aren't your wheels et31 zeb? That should be plenty of poke. If you want the rear out further you would have to use spacers.

On page 2 you claim them to be 9x19" et33? They will definitely poke. My speedlines are with 9x19 et41 specs and with stock camber they will not slip under the arches.

The speedlines are also available with 8,5x19" et43... Could it be possible that you have those specs?

Correct wheel size are ET33 9J All round 19's. SNH I think your right, however was thinking to maybe fit 215/40 fronts, and 225/40 rears. As it's lowered on springs I want to fill in the gap as much as I can, made a mistake by not going for coilovers.  As soon as I can get the tyre size right, I can fit the wheels on asap.

As it stands on Eibachs Pro...I have noticed car has gone a tad bit lower than before.

Lowered.... by Zuhayb Pics, on Flickr

You'll get some serious stretch with 215's on 9j.

Mine are 215 on 8.5j and there's a decent stretch on them

If you go for a 40 profile tyre on 19" want that knock your speedo out slightly?

Have you got something hanging off your exhaust?
