Zeb's Octavia MK2 VRS - A few little tweeks here and there...

Rear tyres ordered went for 235/35/19 Yokohama Advan got them for a good price. Not going to splash out on new branded tyres yet, as I need to sort out the height on my Octy when my collies arrive. H&R Twin Tube coilovers are out of stock so I have to wait 7-10 days  :wall:  Waiting for black Skoda badges as they gave me the green ones, but today I will be fitting my HID's.

  • Probably going to be of limited interest TBH Zeb, mine's more go than show and won't ever get decked on 19s.

  • I get that 100%, I'm trying to make a comparison between the Passat OE fit you referenced and the Octavia OE fit. I've read through the thread and made several posts in it so I know what Zeb is try

  • Depends what size centre bore the Speedlines are.......whatever it is it needs to come down to 57.1 for the Octavia

All coming together now zeb. Have you got someone to code your hid's?

Not far off just have to a wait a few more days. Just fitted my HID's 5000K this time, surprisingly they are fully working I'm getting no flickering, error/messages. Where as before my O/S bulb was flickering a little. No coding on my HID's as bought canbus version, but been told I need non canbus kit??? I can take the canbus kit off as it's plugged in to the ballast. I'll take pics at nite and upload them.

Say wat?

I've got a feeling here that somebody is going to sell soon a couple of 235/35R19 tyres here due to fitment issues... Did you see my post on the previous page where i gave you a sample picture of a setup that rubs? I'm running fairly low with H&R monotubes (1 cm threads to go downwards in the back) and it rubbed with 9x19" et41 speedlines with 235/35R19 which i changed to 225/35R19. I think you can run that 9x19" et33 setup with 225/35R19 with max camber (which will destroy inner side of the tyres). The point where the tyre is going to rub first is the point between the arch and rear bumper. Don't really know how you can flare plastic?

If your on about the inner arch java, that can be cut away to stop any rubbing but I agree in the tyres. 235 are going to be to wide, 225 would have been a lot better.

Update?

Clearly, I made a BIG mistake for buying 235/35/19's they will be delivered tomorrow. Until my coilovers don't arrive I will fit my Speedlines and see how it looks on Eibachs this week. I will remove all arch liners when coilovers are fitted, and get my arches roll down. Bought a pair of black Skoda badges today, turned out to be the wrong ones!

I've done that and it won't help on Zuhayb's car because it is not the first thing that the tyre will rub on his setup. On the back there virtually isn't anything to roll down. Flaring is the only option and the first thing that the tyre is going to rub is this point here:

How can you flare plastic on that spot so it doesn't look odd or is it even possible in the first place? With metal it's no problem.

I'm not trying to be mean here, just trying to help fellow tuner. I suggest you try to turn the camber to the max at the back first and if that doesn't make enough room for the tyres, then you can think of modding those arches. But remember you can't revert that and somebody can think that it affects the resale value of the car and looks odd with factory wheels and suspension if you don't sell it with your mods...

Agree, think I will put the arches on hold and adjust cambers and tyres. I intend to keep the car for a good few years so not fussed when it comes to selling, for whatever reason I do I'll buy a pair of wings from a scrappy. Hopefully the car will be sorted one way or another :)

Loads of members on various forums suggested to place a catalogue underneath the arches and this will somehow expand some space? Is this true or not?

Ahh I see what you mean now, on previous cars I've ground that plastic lip back so it's flush and gives you that extra bit of clearance. It is a lot of messing but if you want a certain look and are keeping the car a while it's worth it. Hopefully with a bit of camber you'll sort it.

Ah ha....might have a fiddle at a later date. For now can't do pretty much to the Octy, just gotta wait for my coilovers only then I can sort the car out. Will go to protyre and see if they can fiddle with my tyres as a trial fit once all is fitted.

Nevermind mate.... We all goof at times

Im quite a expert in fecking up

:D

It's called having a sense of humour   :moon:

I think there's having a sense of humour and laughing in anticipation of the next post. I just think it's a bit mean spirited, but that's just my opinion and clearly not a fact.

Zeb knows he's made a few mistakes, in spite of the advice given, but sometimes when you've got your heart set of something you're not always giving that thing your full attention.

I once bought a set of 18x8.5J ET35 Neuspeeds and only realised what I'd done when they were delivered, despite reading and re-reading the information in the ad LOTS of times. I still got it wrong. I don't think I'll be the last person who's made a mistake with a set of wheels either.

Fecking up the first time makes the second try more rewarding

Fecking up the second time drives u nuts

But when u get it rite the third time its AWESOME :D

Only money rite ;)

Life's too short to be serious, gotta have some laughter in life :) I've learnt my lesson and know what mistakes I clearly did, time to move on and get things right. Not much update, thanks to Skoda dealer they gave me a set of 2 rear Black and Silver Skoda badges instead of front and rear, this is the 4th time I'm paying them a visit. Look's like I'll have to give them a full on B******ING tomorrow!

Currently I have no front badge as I took the old one out, car looks like ****.  Oh yeah HID's fitted this time 5000K :D

Shame about the tyres. Can you return them? Even if there's a re-stocking fee it might be a better result.

No I can't as they are part worn tyres, will have to put them on sale again.
