I think it is possible to upgrade, although you would have to change several parts   Combination stalks newer controller new steering lock new base plate for stalks change the plugs for the airb

you need a newer style stalk, doesn't have to be a cruise one.   open it up   there is a cap that goes on the end of the stalk, swop them over and the older style stalk will return

IT WORKS!!! :D

 

I use the xenon leveling module. And it totally works.. :)

 

But I wonder, can I adjust the sensivity on the high beam assistant? Because when I meet traffic signs it sometimes dims down. My car think it is headlights :(

I need to tap into the expert knowledge on this.

I installed a HBA mirror and followed the thread and Lutz's instructions, repinning the 6-pin connector to 8-pin and adding 2 new wires for Can HI and Can LO. Everything is coded and accepted without DTCs, the autodimming works, but there is NO ICON in the dash. The car is a 2014 S II and I have a returning high beam stalk.

19 gateway added 20 HBA immediately and it is ticked in the gateway.

09 Central electrics byte 11, bit 3 is activated and has been reset.

20 HBA is coded for Xenon and RH car.

@26DIPP - what do you mean by 09 has been reset?

 

If I remember correctly I had to wipe out the 09 coding to get mine up and running:

- change lcode to 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

- change lcode back to 42010A00E849F1C0404A00C8310089EC48790046617DC76099C5EF840041

 

Other than that, is your light switch in the auto position?

I have had another look at the HBA mirror and repinned it thinking I might have a bad contact.

 

There are no faults / error codes stored.

The gateway recognizes the HBA and this is coded correctly.

In STG 20 HBA I can activate the autodim function. Is it worth running the Can test within HBA?

 

Should I see the dash HBA icon in the garage when I cover the lens?

You need the headlight switch in the auto position and it to be dark enough for the headlights to turn on. Pushing the high beam switch away from you should activate high beam assist and the HBA icon should show in the dash.

 

As it's communicating on the CAN-bus, I can't image any wiring issues stopping it working.

 

Seems very similar to the HBA mirror I'm using

I rechecked the coding. Seems o.k.

I logged the HBA while driving and the HBA "activates" the high beam at the set speed, and the log states that high beam is on, but I still do not get the icon for HBA and neither will the high beam actually be activated.

 

Do I have a problem with the stalk or the steering wheel module -STG16? The stalk is the standard SII post FL.

Hi langers2k,

 

I am still wondering why my HBA is not working. I read on the Ross-Tech forum that someone had to change a BCM to get it working. They have also mentioned software versions which will work. Is your BCM still the original or did you replace yours along the line of retrofits on your car? My software is 0771 which is higher than one mentioned that should be working, but maybe there were change on higher versions.

It worked with the original BCM fitted from factory, it was a 1K0 937 087 Q running SW:0651 so I'd expect the one you've got fitted to work just fine.

 

I can't remember what else we've checked, you have a returning high beam stalk right?

This is just to follow up on my problem, that the HBA just did not want to work.

Last month I changed the setting for the large speed display from "world" to "australia" hoping that this would allow Km/h when driving in continental Europe. The answer to this is that it does not change to Km/h, BUT when I wanted to flick the high beam on I suddenly had the HBA icon in he dashboard and it now works just fine even in Tourist mode.

lf anyone wants to retrofit HBA make sure your car is not set to "world".

Hello everyone idk who can help me i have a Volkswagen CC Sport 2013, i need help connecting The HBA module, i did connected to the xenon module and didn't  get communication did it thru obd port harness and no communication , did it thru the module on the steering module still not get communication . My HBA camara module is 5C0857511 i know everyone saying 5k0857511 but the 5k0 dont fit on my windshield idk if i can change the mount from the 5C0 to 5K0 pr camara in order to get communication Please guys help me out with something
