How to change side light bulbs

Featured Replies

Ive got myself some led side light bulbs but im having a hard time trying to take them out of the unit, Can anyone help please?

Skoda would do it for free - ONLY if u buy the bulbs from them.

I take it this is for your Octavia II?  You're more likely to get an answer over on that part of the forum, but I think you can release the headlamp unit quite easily to slide it out and get better access to the bulbs.

Needle-nose pliers did the trick for me. And defiantly take the headlights out and do it indoors........much warmer. ;)

You'll possibly need a pair of resistors too, otherwise you could well get the infamous "bulb failure" warning.

How do you mean a pair of resistors? and for what reason?

if you have led side lights without built in "error free" systems.

LED's run differently to the normal filament bulbs so the values the ecu is looking for will come back different and cause an error. This is why you find the more expensive bulbs with resistors built into them

VCDS will cure this if it does happen :)

Also have you fitted them I did mine today if you need any assistance :)

Or get canbus bulbs ;)

Its due to current draw is alot lower due to a tenth of the wattage or less being used therefore resistors sometimes have to be used to compensate for lower draw of the led bulbs

Don't forget to put them in the right way round, it's best to push them in slightly to see if light up, then push them all the way home.
