Go for the Watchdog option' date=' it worked a while ago when VW had a problem with coil packs, that was highlighted on Watchdog as a result of customer complaints, and now VW and Skoda replace all four free of charge when one of the older ones packs up.

What have we got to lose???????[/quote']

The problem with that approach is that it's critical to the car's function and to a degree safety, whilst the seat covers aren't. As such they maybe seen as a minor issue and not covered. No pun intended.

I am in love with my vRS and I want it to be seen as a good, no, a better product.

I'll be up for Watchdog.

Just written to watchdog (17/01/2006) at www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog and laid out the "bobbling" seat covers problem and Skoda's denial that a problem exists

Could all those affected do the same please

Thanks for the reminder' date=' what with Christmas and all I kept delaying.

Mine reads:

I, and nearly 60% of Skoda Fabia vRS owners are suffering from extremely poor quality seating materials. In many cases the fabric last a matter of days before it wears thin, bobbles and fuzzys up.

Skoda UK and HQ have told me that they deny all liability and the fabric is "within tolerance" levels. Theirs perhaps, BUT NOT THEIR CUSTOMERS! It's a disgrace, frankly.

Please see http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/33118-vrs-fraying-seats-fuzzing-seat-material-you-had-problem.html

I've said "Yes" to we have documentation, "Yes" to we have photographic evidence but not to video.

Oh, and they are *VERY* welcome to contact me and Skoda!

That's been posted up before, dealer price was about £1,200 I think

My VRS is one month / 2,500 miles old and i can already see signs of bobbling, i also have a horribly squeaky/creaky drivers seat. Its going in for the technicians to look at it in two weeks. The tech bloke on the phone asked if i had taken any measures to protect the seats - i replied yes, Carplan sprayon faberic protector - tech bloke implies this may be the cause. I stated in no uncertain terms that I am no mug, and that i hoped he was joking. Needless to say I will be asking for an immediate remedy to the squaking and advice on the seat covers. I am a high milage driver, and will be charting the bobbling process via my digital camera.

I had a quality issue with Seat / Seat UK a couple of years ago - trading standards did wonders for that process.

I agree, good money has been payed, and when mistakes are made the manufacturers who hold their hands up win the respect, not those who call their customers liars...

I share the oppinion that its a great car for the money, but let down by a) seat covers (colour and durability) and B) brakes - but thats a different thread!

Oh, and when i raised the issue with if forgot to mention i was told no-one had complained about squeaks or crap fabric before...

Car is still worth it, but thats not the point.

Remember, report this to WatchDog. I am going to contact AutoExpress as they praised their silver vRS a lot.

Squeaking seat is seat base i'm on my 3rd after £43000, my seats have got pulls, probably due to clothes getting caught.

The seat is really cumfortable, just needs leather and a stronger seat base. Leather £750 ahhhh, stronger seat base, well who knows!!

Very disappointed to hear Skoda is saying they've not had multiple complaints on this issue when so many different people here seem to be having problems. It stinks a bit to me.

If it's any consolation Skoda / VAG UK probably read Briskoda and can see you guys aren't at all impressed.

In this day and age people come onto forums like this as part of the car buying process, to see what common problems they might encounter with a given model, and also the manufacturer response to what usually amount to a bad design or cost decision. Rocking seats on Z3s, DI cassettes on Saabs (US govt made them address this here not sure about the UK though), all common topics of discussion on their enthusiasts forums.

The problems I've read re: cloth seats on the Fabia vRS actually made me think twice about our order (our other choice was 206 GTi HDi) as I dont want a shabby looking car after 3 months due to what sounds like a poor choice of material (too flimsy) and colour (easily shows dirt/stains). In the brochure it looks like an Ivory colour, maybe it's a light grey. Are you having a laugh? The impracticality of the colour put me off the car before I'd even read this thread, reading this thread has convinced me.

Anyway, I changed my order the same day I placed it and decided to forego xenons and the CD changer that I wanted on my vRS. I did this in order to pick the leather trim option and stay within my budget. Yes, it's cost me a few hundred more than I wanted to pay, and the leather is a 'nice thing to have', but I'd rather have not spent most of my budget on one option and had some decent cloth seats to start with thanks very much! Some upgraded bulbs and an MP3 headunit are my first mods!

Sure I will be happy with the car though, much looking forward to it!

HI had problems keepin the seatin clean!!!! its the worst seating in any car i've ever had,but one of the best all round cars!!!! But its goin on 1st march! gettin a OCTY Vrs so all my probs will be over.

I got leather done at seat surgeons cos my seats were becoming very tatty skoda were not interested and sugested it was my combat work pants to blame!!!! the leather is the best thing i have spent money on

 my seats booked in to be looked at on april 7. skoda have said if they are a warrenty job then may be possible to do a deal on putting leather back in in stead of the fabric . sounds good but i think it just high hopes on my part. ill believe it when it happens but i dont think it will.

if they do let me know - i'll be going to your dealers!

Squeaking seat is seat base i'm on my 3rd after

My dealer wont replace my seat base under warranty because they claim that because of my remap the force that the seat base is excerted to is more . They said Skoda want a full printout to check if my car had been remapped prior to agreeing to replace the item. I agreed not to take my chances as the car had some engine work done under warranty at the same time which if I had ended up having to pay for it would of been

One of them things I guess.

I'm just going to go to a scrap yard and pick up a new seat base, as long as it's height ajdustable it should be the same and will fix my dodgy seat.

Here we go again................... bobbling driver's seat base - been on the car a WHOLE 3 months this time - Thats 4 times now in 12 months.

When will Skoda admit that the seat covers are CRAP.

BTW - it is down to way I get into the seat. - doing it wrong I'm told!!!!!.

Maybe the dealers should run a "getting in correctly" training course before you drive away.

Ours has started to go aswell, 18 months old and 24K miles.

Will Skoda replace these under warranty?

Ours has started to fray where your right leg rubs on the cloth as you get in and out.

The car is only 18 months old and done 24K miles.

Will Skoda replace the seat under warranty?

Typically, yes. But you may have to apply pressure to them though. Perhaps print this thread out and say that you're not an isolated case?

Just ordered my lovely new red Vrs and I can't wait. (V V excited). Only thing I

didn't like was the standard seat covers. Great leather option is

The material is too delicate. Doesn't help if you seat is positioned close to the steering wheel as you rub more on the right hand edge of the seat when climbing in. I'm seeing slight 'furring' as you call it on mine.
