Lol, thats funny as my brother was trying to talk me out of the VRS and into a BMW 520D Touring today, apparently some very good lease offers on them.

  • Red, it matches the brakes and rear light cluster I would say having a popular colour can make a re-sale easier, you probably won't get any of that £500 back your right but it's also about buying what

  • another metal grey to the gang, really think it suits the RS hence why I chose it.

  • And here are some other shots taken in a different light at the dealers just before collection.

TBH I am a bit antsy because I don't have a build date (don't want to wait until April then be told its another 4 months ! )

I have considered a Passat and an A4, more inclined to the A4 on looks, but they would only have a 1.8TSi, and I would regret not having that extra 50hp. Only way to get the 2.0 on the Audi is go Quattro, and that's a lot more cash.

The 2.0 on the Passat looks to be an older version judging from the emissions and MPG figures.

BMW is too expensive for me, and not enough rear legroom.

You are right about the Passat. I have a facelift Passat 2011 TDI 170 with DSG and 4 Motion and to be honest it feels a bit old. Specially compered to the vRS.

On the other hand its a very reliable car with a decent consumption for being a large estate with 4x4 and DSG

The new Passat is around the corner and will be available early 2015.

Here in Sweden I could get a A4 2.0 Quattro S-tronic for almost the same price as the vRS I had on order (I had ALL options).

The colour of Metal Grey in the car configurator doesn't really match the reality. Too bad though since I like the darkness in this colour

Metal grey opened the same week I ordered, week 2 2014.. Lucky me, because none of the other colors "spoke" to me.

As of yesterday BW16, but not confirmed. They get confirmed dates on thursdays and inbetween it is lotto from day to day.

Sold my 08 VW Touran today, so wtf

Loving this colour....

Did you get your deposit back. I have the option on an outgoing c220cdi sport plus with Command HD. Need to make up my mind tomorrow. Got £10.5k of list. £3k down and £328 a month. The Vrs isn't much cheaper at £315 a month.

In Sweden you don't need to put a deposit. Even if I did they had to give me a refund as they couldn't deliver on time.

Pickin up the BMW first week in March

Know the C is about to be replaced but a 220 Sport Plus....what a lovely car. The Merc would 100% be my choice mate, go for it.

Pretty sure the A4 Quattro in Uk is around £35K compared to £26k for VRS

My vRS with all options was £33K and the Audi with maybe half the options was £33K.

I know when I specced both, The VRS came out at 26.5K (GBP) and the A4 at £35K, seems in Sweden that Skodas are more expensive and Audi's Cheaper than in UK

Attached are some pictures of a Metal Grey Superb for sale at Sinnott Autos. Less of a greeny blue tint than has shown up on other photos.

Is that yours 030 ?

Looking good either way :)

No, it's not.

It's from the Dutch Skoda forum.

The photos from 030 are probably the best images of the Metal Grey I have seen so far and really liking it.

My dilemma for a while has been whether I stick with the Gemini anthracite wheels or change to the Gemini silver? Just worried that the anthracite together with the Metal Grey might be too grey overall.

The dealer only in fact confirmed on the 18th Feb that my request to change to Metal Grey from Race Blue had been accepted on the order system, having  made the initial request on the 14th Jan! Provisional build date of w18 confirmed but hoping for it to move forward.

Members thoughts on the wheel colour options would be welcome to help me make up my mind.

Hi mo1965,  I am having the anthracite wheels on mine. With the silver highlights on the wheels, red brake calipers and red seat trim, I think there is enough colour to break up the grey IMO  :)

I don't yet have a build week, ordered on the 21st Jan, week 18 is pretty good, I think that makes it an April delivery ? if I get that I will be well happy.

Edit : Hmmm I mistook your 14th Jan for original order, not colour change request .... damn I stated to get excited mine would be close behind and now realise it won't :wall:

Mr G, sorry to get your hopes up re delivery times! My initial order for a VRS petrol, manual hatch was on the 18th Dec. Since then BW has gone from w12, 21 and now18. A bit of a lottery really with build dates until final confirmation received.

One can remain optimistic ... if they are doing a batch of metal grey that week .... maybe mine will slot in ... :wonder:

My Metal Grey order (or Dark Metallic Grey as its called in Switzerland) is currently with a preliminary build date of KW14 (31st March).

Hopefully they do have a run of this colour over the same time & the build week doesnt slip...

Just got back from dealer where I've been to look at a new Yeti in Metal Grey to get a look at the colour in real life as it were.

Its very much like the old Anthracite, but a shade lighter. No hint of green and only slightly blue if reflecting white.

It wasn't cleaned yet as only recently off the transporter but I liked it.

I now have to decide if to keep black pack on my VRS Estate.
