Big regret - Filipe hitting Checka and not the pointy German one.

Is it wrong that a part of me wanted Massa to collect Vettel on the way past?

Guess how I feel on the subject! ;)

  • Not completely sold on the nose regs for this year either, but some interesting designs came out however can't say Im sold on the ones that are just blatantly appendages (eg TorroRosso or ForceIndia).

What a mental race! On the edge of my seat the whole time fantastic. Hamilton from pit lane to 3rd, Alonso done a great job and I think my driver of the day has to be Ricciardo, just massively impre

Great race although I was screaming at the cameraman on the hairpin who seemed more interested in covering the fans than the action, AT THE CRITICAL MOMENT!.

Felt sorry for Hamilton, Massa and a little disappointed Vettel wasn't taken out. I think I might have to watch Jenson's Canada GP from a couple of years ago as a consolation ;-)

Been quiet on the F1 front, let's bump it back up with Force India requesting that the FIA revisit the 5 place grid penalty for Perez's accident with Massa:

Must have happened already? Or be happening? Will be interesting to see the outcome. I wasn't convinced at the time it was anything but a racing incident!

I'm curious if the track will offer any good racing - lots of high speed straights and corners, but the difficult final corners where they have been running wide all day could be exciting!

upheld penalty

Hamilton seems to have the legs on Rosberg, although Lewis really needs someone to get ahead of Nico to make the Championship more interesting. Or maybe Nico can have a failure; would only be fair!

Well a Williams front row lock out was not what I expected lol

Same here! Great result for them!

Nice to see Williams back on form and also 1st pole for Massa since 2008 Brazilian GP, he looked well chuffed and rightly so.

Anyone got tickets to the Brit GP in a couple of weeks? Managed to land a hospitality pass to the qualifying day, well excited is an understatement!

Seems fair; there's a camera that wasn't part of the orignal live feed looks directly along that piece of track, and you can see Perez pull left on it, after Massa committs to his line.

Got my weekend tickets. :)  General Admission this time in an effort to save a few quid. Really looking forward to it.

I'm intrigued to hear what the V6's are like in person. I have a suspicion I will be mourning the V8's though! :'(

I'm still enjoying the fact that the V6s have an engine note rather than just A NOISE.

Yeah I said it before, I think the V6's sound fruity with the turbo noise etc.

I'm still enjoying the fact that the V6s have an engine note rather than just A NOISE.

It was more than a 'noise' though, it was an experience! Personally, the thing that upsets me most about the new V6's, is the fact that I will not have that experience again.

F1 cars should scream and F1 should be loud! It has lost some of the magic IMO.

It's hugely down to personal preference I guess, for me the V10's were the pinnacle, they were an experience.

Never got to hear the V10's in person, but I'm sure I would agree.

Disagree - Exhaust noise is wasted energy, and F1 should be the pinacle of technology. Turning exhaust gas speed into motive power is a fairly new technology, and one of its side effects is that it takes speed, and hence dB, out of the exhaust gas.

Ahhh the V10 are were beautiful. I was at an event at Silverstone a couple of years back, all the rich doctors were driving their Ferraris round and they sounded pretty good. Then Marc Gene busted out in one and it sounded brutal!

Well a wet qualifying ahead but dry race according to BBC weather with temperatures in the high 20s

Memo to Lewis Hamilton:

It's not over 'till the fat lady sings.

Looks like the pressure is getting to LH. Seems that it was his call to abort the final lap and he goes straight from pole to 6th!!

And to rub salt into that wound, NR goes top. I don't think I've ever seen an F1 driver smirk more than Rosberg in the top three interviews and Hamilton could barely speak when being interviewed.

Still no points for Saturday and how much LH can recover tomorrow probably depends on the weather. A podium is a distinct possibility, but beating Rosberg? I guess LH will be praying that Vettel and Rosberg collide on the first corner.

The only things in Hamilton's favour is that he has the fastest car and Silverstone is a fast circuit where he should be able to overtake.

Unfortunately his team mate also has the fastest car and he's on pole.

The weather could play a part if it's a wet / dry race and Rosberg ends up on the wrong tyre at the wrong time.

If Hamilton slips too far behind Rosberg tomorrow he will need a miracle to win the title, as Rosberg won't need to win races, but continually come in second.

That's Hamilton effectively giving the Championship away. Rosberg has done the better job this year
