Particularly if we get the situation where it "rains" under Lowe's (or whatever it's called now) hotel and no-where else!

Maybe residents in a couple of places could put sprinklers on their balconies to spice things up a bit (even Ecclestone has suggested something similar before)!

  • Not completely sold on the nose regs for this year either, but some interesting designs came out however can't say Im sold on the ones that are just blatantly appendages (eg TorroRosso or ForceIndia).

What a mental race! On the edge of my seat the whole time fantastic. Hamilton from pit lane to 3rd, Alonso done a great job and I think my driver of the day has to be Ricciardo, just massively impre

Just reading over todays practise data on BBC .... one of the best pictures of the season on the Maldonado article...

Great shot!

This was doing the rounds on Twitter yesterday with the strapline: "Maldonado arrives in Monaco"

BoGYYQaIQAAtH6z.jpg

That's just silly. If it was Maldonado's boat it would be in Casino Square! ;)

I don't think Williams will be anywhere - they demonstrated in the wet qualifying that they lack downforce.

Monaco isnt a big downforce track though

Young guns outshone the experienced guys - Kevin faster than Jenson, and Daniel faster than Seb.

Disappointed for Lewis - could have got the pole if it wasn't for yellow flags.

I'm not convinced Lewis would have got it. But we just don't know! Has been so tight between them all weekend! Mixed feelings as I predicted Nico for pole, but sad not to have the suspense of a pole shoutout.

Edit: Just watching Sky's Lewis interview. Clearly not a happy chappy!

....certainly a bit of an anti-climate; it was very very close..... but looked like Nico was on top.

Good race. Congrats to Nico and especially to Marussia for their first points!

Lewis' sulking and whining on the radio every race is a real turn off. You've got the best car this year Lewis just drive it and enjoy it! His race engineer deserves a knighthood.

Most of the drivers are like that, FOM are definitely concentrating a lot of their energies on letting us know what Lewis' radio traffic is like... It's certainly a bit annoying.

Having said that, it was disappointing that Vettel checked himself before he launched in to an attack to his team, it would've been really interesting to hear exactly what he thinks about his car at the moment :)

I suspect it would have been something along the lines of French piece of ********. Why can't we get a car that ******** works for one ***** race this year  ****** ***** ***** ***** ******* ***** **** ****** ******.

I felt that Monaco showed a lot of engine failures this year, I wonder if it is the sign of issues to come later in the year as teams using older engines to keep fresh ones for canada. Also it was mentioned that renault have already admited that none of their teams will complete the year without breaching the number of engines limit. Think it will be interesting to see how the FIA handle that issue.

Look at someone like Alonso who has been given a poor car at Ferrari for years now, he just gets on with his job. Maybe he does his complaining behind closed doors.

I feel Lewis is probably the quicker driver than Nico overall but fear that his metal strength/lack of maturity may be his downfall.

I think there will be a defined penalty for this but I can't remember what it is..

Was that pole engineered yesterday ?  Lewis wasn't happy yesterday and less so today when interviewed by the Beeb. Clearly thought that Nico had been up to something.  Maybe the FIA should be renamed MIA this year as they appear to have given up helping Ferrari...?

I don't subscribe to the theory that Nico deliberately locked up and went down the escape road .... but whether or not he then ensured the yellows stayed out by allegedly reversing the car back towards the track is another matter, nobody on the TV coverage seems to have asked the question over whether the flags would have changed to green had he decided to stay there with the engine ticking over for the last 60 seconds or so...

Fair assessment I think... Having said that, some of Rosberg's interviews in the previous 4 races were just as icey and "I'm not a happy person" as Lewis' was today.

I do think there's an all round lack of maturity on the track at the moment and Lewis is one of the worst offenders, didn't Alonso say something like this himself a season or two ago, about drivers being too emotional and not showing each other enough respect (specifically on the track)?

Didnt thin Lewis was overly moany tbh, he had issues in the car and he is ****ed off that he never got the pole he should have, so no more than I'd expect in that situation tbh. Looking forward to him handing Nico's arse to him on a plate over the rest of the season.

Alonso doesnt moan because Ferrari dont let him!

Lewis and Nico recognise that the Championship is between the 2 of them this season, and so every little bit of help, be it psychological or from the team management, technicians or strategists, will be used.  There are already huge similarities with 1988 and the fantastic battle between Senna and Prost and this year looks like being a tense and dramatic battle between team mates with very few interlopers. I'm really looking forward to how this develops, and modern technology gives us a far clearer insight into the battle than we ever had with Senna and Prost.

Flags would have stayed yellow if he stayed there. The escape route is too small for other cars. It would have stayed yellow untill they lifted the car away. Probably even longer than his backing up.

And remember Alonso holding Lewis up in the pits, so that Lewis couldnt make it out in time for another timed lap anymore.......

Flags would have stayed yellow if he stayed there.

That's at least logical :)

I definitely don't think Rosberg did it deliberately then. Totally understandable that Lewis would be annoyed by it but that's the test of (any) sport, can you handle what's thrown at you with composure and dignity? I think Lewis failed that test this weekend, not from his initial reaction which was understandable, but with the way he's carried on with the attitude in subsequent interviews.

He just scheduled his fast lap in qualifying wrong and his pit stop in the race. If he did both one lap before, it would have looked different.

Both are still young Drivers and very eager (if you are not eager, you will never be a champ   ), but they could handle misfortune a bit more mature :p

It does seem to be that Lewis has been deliberately going out after Nico to be the 'last one over the line'... that tactic always runs the risk of the qualifying mess up, especially around Monaco.

Compared to the likes of Kvyat and Magnussen they're not so young anymore. I looked it up and I was surprised Lewis is actually a couple of years older than Vettel.

Every other driver on the grid would kill to be in that Mercedes, would just be nice to see Lewis cheer up a bit and respect his team a bit more.

I don't think it was malicious.

Nico doesn't seem that kind of person

But he is German, and they do seem to have a bit of history in this area.

It was interesting watching the footage of his pole lap and his "incident" lap, looked identical until he started sawing at the wheel - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I'm a natural born cynic and that didn't look like an over driven car (as some have reported).

But as has already been said, we don't know if LH would got pole on the lap he was on.

Glad Massa got 7th after being punted off in qualifying and it was good to see Marussia get it's first points too. And Kimi had a bit of a blond moment with Magnussen at the hairpin - what was he thinking??
