Which yeti has some oomph?

Featured Replies

I'll second this.  (OR third since someone mentioned it higher up before too).  I've never owned a 4x4 vehicle before and the way it puts the power down is just amazing. In over 30,000 miles I have NEVER heard the wheels chirp. Never, not once, no matter how hard you give it welly or how wet the road is. The electronics just sends the power where it needs to be and off you go. No fuss, no flashing lights and more importantly no spinning tyres costing you money. Win-win I say.

This is spot on ,,,,, at the risk of a torrent of abuse,,, skoda really should put this haldex system in the octy vrs , it would transform it

If Skoda put that in the Octy VRS, Audi wouldn't sell many TT Quatros!

Come to think of it, I've also driven the Superb in both FWD and 4x4 flavour, both with the CR170 and the haldex transforms it. Not just more take-off ability, but the handling felt much better in the 4x4. Those drives were a couple of years apart though so the comparison is less sound than between the Octy and Yeti which were one after the other.

In case you are concerned about performance and handling of your Yeti, you might want to take a look at a video of 3 guys from Evo magazine in a Yeti driving around the Nurburgring... easily overtaking several Porche turbos and GT3s on the ring.. and having a great time doing it.

I believe this was the 1.8 4x4 manual in dry conditions. I used to have a Golf GTI and the Yeti looks just as good if you know how to drive it.

Enjoy

I only wish I had any of his talent :bandit: ! 4Up with luggage... mincing M3s and Porsches in a 1.8

Great video that. I would point out it was running Dunlop Direzza trackday tyres, which will make quite a noticeable difference, especially on a 'ring lap.

No doubting the track driving talent of Mr Meaden of Evo Magazine either.

I like this summary a lot. It's sums up one of the main reasons I'm likely to place an order quite shortly

Nice video clip.

The only times I saw the traction control lights on was in snow or when driving flat out at Castle Coombe, in the damp where the Yeti was the fastest Skoda out there round the twisty bits.

A remapped CR140, DSG, flappy paddles and the big brakes.

It was awesome.

Much quicker than my FL.

Well, thanks for all the advice.

I picked up a Elegance yesterday, pan sun roof, leather etc. 170bhp, 2010, 32400 miles. Paid 14k. Hoping no one's about to tell me that's too much (probably should have asked in advance).

Will update my profile with my new Yeti now :)

Sounds like a good price to me, congrats on the new motor.

Yes, I think it was the one you were referring to in Surrey.

Haven't had time to take any photos yet but here are those from the sale...

8 hour round trip to collect, but the second half was very pleasant, particularly the cruise control. (Although I wonder what that does to fuel economy?)

Another new Yeti

Price sounds sensible to me.

Well done on getting one. :)

Probably improves it, if anything, thanks to the constant speed.

It will use more fuel in certain conditions, particularly when the route is hilly and involves gradients and drops. The system will try to maintain your set speed no matter what.

But overall, it's a great tool and makes for a more relaxing long distance journey :)

Is it a 2wd? Very nice by the way.

No it's a CR170 4x4 Elegance.

I was interested in it, until I made the decision to look for one without a sunroof.
