Depends how mechanically able you are.

Does anyone know how hard it is to change the head gasket?

Why do you suspect head gasket?

i have to fill it up with engine coolant every other day, and in the morning when i go to put more in the bottle still has pressure.

I bought the car for very little money so i assumed there was always going to be something wrong with it.

Check the pipework where the heater pipes go through the bulkhead, they sometimes fracture and drip onto the exhaust and are therefore never detected.

DB.

Sniff test to see if it's head gasket 1st, then pressure test

They don't really have the usual 'sniff test' results when testing.

I had the same issues up until a couple of weeks ago when I replaced the head gasket, now it's all good.

I'd say its a good shout, if you've got the issues you say you have.

Use the diesel based fluid in the sniff test
