Pick up day: vRS TDI; Joy & Sorrow - Error after 20 km

Featured Replies

After a couple of month of waiting, I've finally picked up my car from the dealer. What a Joy, brand new vRS TDI estate, DSG. This was suppose to be a "look how happy I am thread" but unfortunately, as soon as I went out on the road, at the speed of around 160 Km/h @ around 4200 rpm (maybe 25 km on odometer) glow plug indicator light started to blink, and the car did not respond to the throttle. I've stopped as soon as I could (couple of hundreds of meters) Turned the car off, waited about a minute, started the engine, the fault was gone. I called my dealer, and he told me to come to the service so they can take a look.

I did came today, close to closing hours, and the following fault was read. (I will translate this from Croatian, as the service mans laptop was in Croatian,)

Error code: 015CC SAE code: P164B00 Event description: Oil pressure switch failure

I am suppose to drive the car back in Monday for a detail check. Any experience with errors like this? Could it be just the fault on the pressure switch, or am I potentially having a serious breakdown. Since the car is new as it can be (still under 100 km on the odometer, I am not keen on letting them fix anything. i am very close to '**** off and get me a new car')

If it is just a switch failure then not really a problem worth trying to reject the car for.

Modern electronics either fail pretty quickly or last a long time, a faulty pressure switch is a bummer in a new car but not a show stopper.

It's just a switch, no need to worry unduly. Check the oil level on the dip stick to put your mind at rest.   If the switch worked but an oil pressure warning had been reported I'd be concerned, but no need to fret over a switch.  Try and enjoy the car when you get it back.... Hopefully you will soon forget this upset.

I fully agree... My job in the past was related to (BIG) diesel engine safety systems, so I am not really worried about a switch failure. I would be worried if it turns out that the pressure switch Is OK, and I am experiencing real low oil pressure.

Anyway, I started the thread just to inform the community what might happen', and also to receive feedback if someone already experienced it.

160km/h at over 4k revs on a new car........... Hmm.

Yup, I fail to se where is the problem. The eangine was at the working temperature, I was on a highway, switched on sport mod, and press the throttle. it is a DSG gearbox, ait wasnt my idea to keep it that high.

"shake down test" shook out a problem with the product, no problem with the test as far as I see.
