They are 'Asking Prices',  & a Dealership wish,  you do not tell people the lowest price you will deal at in adverts. well not normally.

it has no reflection on what you might buy the car for when they have nobody else biting.

No matter the Plate on it, it is a Demonstrator from 2014, and the year has changed.

Explanation, cheapest car in UK was sold yesterday, so today Looker Teesside up the price by £500 , to stay the cheapest R in the UK.

I dont understand

You keep saying cheapest, but its not haha. A brand new one can be had for that.

Quote from Dealer - ref VW website used. Sorry if not transparent enough. Not for £24995, my last lowest price of yesterday, about a £3k difference to discounter

My bad. £26,380. From a dealer.

Best £1,380 you'll ever spend IMO.

Go for it, if 4 cylinders and 296 bhp  are enough!

Eh dear. Dont get upset ;).

If i had £26k. I wouldnt spend it on an R. Very nice cars. Not for me though.

Each to their own innit (:

I would. New, I don't think anything would offer the all round abilities of an R for any less tbh. I'd be quite happy in fact to swap the Yeti in for an R estate in the future. And that's really saying something for me! :) Only problem is, my Yeti offers most of what the R does but with a more flexible interior.

I preferred the 6th gen to the 7th tbh.

Also. If im brutally honest. Id keep the fabia 1.2 and just spend the money on a Ducati and a Bmw r1200rs when it comes out.

But i guess thats a completely different outlook aha..

its whatever floats your boat, never been a two wheel man myself. Prefer the mk7 over the 6 myself for the light MQB platform, ea888 engine and the later haldex setup. I look for the ability to tune reliably, ability to put the power down and ability to cruise across countries being a general family holiday hold all a few times a year... A Golf R could be extremely viable and with the 0-62 dash done in just 3.6 seconds with just a stage 1 map... Could probably see off the majority of the two wheelers also. ;)

Its impressive for a hatch isnt it.

I've been in one. It was pretty quick. Kinda quiet, hassle free. Not Noisey n shouty like some fast cars I've been in. It just gets on with the job doesnt it.

Nah. Wouldnt see off a big bike (:. I went in a golf r after id come back 20 miles on the bike like *cough* abit of a rush. (its my uncles so i just popped in and ended up going out in it) the golf still felt quite slow compared if im honest.

Good though. Refined, comfy, quick, apparently 40mpg (hes only managed 26 but he boots it everywhere) n get all the family in too. What more could you want (:

I had a look & measure of a Yeti & the interior is way too small, the Golf estate it bigger & way more boot space for ski's rucsacs etc. The Yeti like the Golf SV just gives you more room by having a higher roof line. I need more room for long flat items not big washing machines. Mind you I fitted a big roller cabinet tool chest in the Golf estate no problems!

I decided against an R estate as I have properly driven my mates MK4 R32 down the local back roads, & I was only able to go about 5-10mph faster through the same corners compared to my Fabia. That's 4WD for you. WAY faster on the straights (no **** Sherlock), but with the extra cost of fuel/insurance/tax etc. & still got to get winter tyres for it! So opted for a GT spec (top spec at the moment) with loads of options....................love it!!!... :sun:

Unfortunately a nice idea but think my warranty is worth more than an a very occasional Ego boosting blast.Albeit, for a relatively small investment.

Might aswell if you've bought it outright and its out if warranty though.

Be rude not to aha.

Prefer to have the warranty myself, then mod after the 3 year period. By that time be, almost, paid off and could spend the savings on the modifications to go straight to stage 2. :D Or alternatively sell it and get a 400 instead and still have the warranty.

Seriously where can you buy a new golf R from a franchised dealer with low deposit on a 3 yr pcp for under £30k? I couldn't find one within a 50 mile radius of Cardiff when I looked!

(no doubt someone will find lots about now!)

Edit : DSG version, and with dcc!

Its the 'dynamic chassis control' that bumps the one i just did up. Thats off DTD too.

DCC is £815

Edit: dont you want DSG?

I would love dcc, 5 door, dsg and nav pro but it's a bit ott for a weekend car.

Hopefully someone soon will break the component protection so I can retrofit the nav, the standard suspension set up is amazing anyway and the dsg is just too expensive and I've had it for 5 years on my octavia anyway so time for a change

Is the DCC the thing in the centre of the dash that you can change the settings 'eco' 'normal' or 'race'? Or is that on all of them?

Yeah fair shout mate. Id have a dsg if i was only keeping it for a few years. Manual would be better if its a long term car IMO.

Dcc is the magnetic ride program. 3 modes, comfort, normal and sport. I tried it on the mk6 gtd when it came out and have to say it's good.

But I've driven a R with the normal suspension and it takes some beating.

Dsg is bullet proof. It's got bad rep but there are people on here with stellar mileages with no issues.

Try it with £1k deposit.

Edit: which is about 4%

That's more like it, in fact a no brainer surely. Though I wanted a 5 door.
