New Golf R

Not really, in the grand scheme it's nothing special when we are dealing with M5s and RS4s and performance cars all day, they will probably get a slightly longer test than an A1 or A3 TDI

Id prefer it if they just didnt test drive my car. Wonder if this is an option when servicing?

It can be but instead it's just left running for 30 mins to get the oil warm enough to check the level.

Hmm. It defo wasnt test driven last time i took it in for a minor service, cos i checked the mileage ;). It was ready and given back about 30 mins later too (i also prefer them not to wash it).

Major service in 2k miles though.

Odd, any idea if left running to double check the oil when warm?

Cant tell. 'Cold coolant' light wasnt on when i got back in the car, so it must have been run for a little bit.

For reference. It usually takes about 0.8 miles of steady driving for that light to go off.

Sounds odd, oil takes a lot longer to warm up than Oil.

I presume you mean coolant.

Yup. Loads longer.

I checked the level when i got back though (20 mile drive) and it was okay. 3/4 full, so i was happy.

But this next service is a mayor one. So I've no doubt somebody will want to drive my car. Im particular about that.

Ahh I see, ask if they do a camera through the whole service like Audi or if you can sit in on the test drive,

Tried that. I cant at lookers stockport haha.

How about i take him for a test drive ;). I'll only end up getting mad if he grinds a gear or revs too hard haha.

Or that.

Or that.

I should probably bother less.

One drive out revving abit harder with a little less engine temps provably wont do much harm. I just dont like the thought.

Shoot the first mechanic that tries it as a warning... rest will soon learn :D

Get it really warm for the drive over to dealers so it's already slightly warm for them

Listening to that on my phone it sounds a bit tractor like at low revs. A bit better at WOT.

Not for me.
