Various Columbus questions

Featured Replies

Bear with me I've only had the Yeti a day. On a journey last night (no navigation selected only map showing) the car piped up that there was traffic congestion ahead and I figured out (well my son did who was in the passenger seat) how to display the traffic reports.

Most of these were for roads hundreds of miles away and we couldn't figure out how to delete or re-order them.

If I chose "On Route" under "Set Up" does it only show traffic announcements for the road you are on, despite not having set a route in the navigation? Or do I have to have a route set?

Also, should I have been given a MAP DVD by the dealer when I picked the car up? This is not a new car by the way, one previous owner.

There is no "Show speed limitation" option available  and I cant see how to enter postcodes only street names and numbers. Is this down tot he firmware/map version.

I pressed "Set Up" for 20 seconds and got a screen with FM AM & DAB on it no firmware/map information so I can't check the unit status unless I take it out and look at the tags.

Can I use POIBase to add points of interest to my unit? Their web site says "Skoda Columbus (from Firmware 3xxx and Version 7.1)"

Any help appreciated.

BTW anyone near Burnley who is capable of upgrading Firmware and Maps and is willing to help please get in touch.

Well it's all go in here isn't it 4 days and zero views  :wonder:

How old is the car? No secret menu probably points to an older firmware.

Note you can enter a postcode in the city field.

Traffic announcements seem to just be in the area, but the area can be wide. They are not editable as far as I am aware. Nearby congestion will also show on the map as a series of chevrons if the scale is not too small. If there is traffic on a route that you have set I think it warns you but I haven't used mine enough to have that occur.

Map DVDs are no longer given by the dealer it seems and most will charge a lot to update but some will do both maps and firmware quite cheaply (I've seen 50 quid quoted by some lucky members).

Hope that helps

Adam

If there is no route set the Columbus will show issues surrounding your current location.

If no route is set she shouldn't be talking to you at all (at least mine doesn't).

If a route is set, only then does the 'On route' come into play. There shod be an option in the menu to select 'on route' or 'national' as the default once a route is set.

There should be an option to show the speed limit sign on the display. If this isn't there then as Adam said, it points to you having quite an early firmware.

Look at the sticker on the Columbus casing and get the part number and suffix as well as the SW & HW numbers. Then we can advise you as to which firmware you'll need and probably resolve this for you quite quickly.

In "free-drive" my rns315 will announce there are traffic problems if they exist between the car's location and at least the next junction (quite a regular thing in the SE corner of the M25). I was working on the assumption that at least you're prepared for something ahead.

Thanks all. I try to look at the stickers this weekend. Car is a 60 plate.

I'll bet that it is a 3T0...A part number and that you'll need 4020 firmware.

[Finges crossed I'm right now...]
