Columbus doesnt save screen settings?

Featured Replies

So,

I've had my new  Octy estate 150 5 days now, loving it in general but one thing is bugging me.

To qualify this query, I should also say that the sat nav SD card isnt installed,  hasn't yet arrived, so maybe its that? My questions is:-

When you set the "display" screen settings to turn off the screen after X seconds (user adjustable), it resets after you turn the ignition off?

Has anyone else had this problem? I do a lot of night driving and its a real distraction having a lit screen.

Its a real pain having to change the setting every time you enter the car!

Thanks in advance

Pete

This is normal, bit odd but normal. Think everyone has tried this setting has found the same.

I trust that the default behaviour is to remain on while ignition is on? Is that the same on Amundsen and Bolero?

Hi,

Yes. So long as the ignition isn't turned off, the screen setting remains. Doesn't feel like this is deliberate, rather a "bug" in the programming. I'll mention it to the dealer and see where that gets me!,

The golf I had as a loan car kept the setting.

So either it's been changed in an update, or there are differences between the vw and Skoda units.

This setting does not seem to be saved when the ignition is switched off on the Bolero either.  It behaves more like a "bug" to me as well.

ASACSchrader what response did you get from the dealer when you mentioned it to them?

The new MQB infotainment systems on the Octavia are littered with bugs....suppose the difference is now that the gubbins in the glovebox is a computer running an OS (what I suspect to be a QNX based).

Some settings dont get saved, impossible to completely turn off map autozoom (turn it off on mine and it seems to **** about anyway and doesnt store the last manual set zoom level), DAB radio sometimes fails to start, occasionally a different source plays from ignition on than last set despite the last source still being available (usually falls back to CD)....actually in some respects its GUI is overcomplicated and doesnt work as well as that on the older gen Headunits. Definitely preferred the Amundsen + I had on my MK2....the sound was also 100 x better in that car.

Hi everyone,

Can someone help me out with this problem about adaptive lane guidance:

Every time when i start my car, I have to turn on "adaptive lane guidance"  on the Columbus menu each time.

Its seems, it doesnt save the settings? Any solution for this?

If you click the button on the end of the left indicator stalk & does it give you the option to enable it via the maxidot?

Yes i can activate on maxidot, the lane assist. My question is about "adaptive lane guidance", the only way to activate that is via columbus.

But i must enable it eacht time when i start my car. It is not saving.
