Are these brakes/pads worth a shot?

Recommended Posts

Evening Guys.

As the car is going in for a full service, new clutch, and new rubber all round,  I may as well get the brakes and pads done also.

Can you give me your thoughts on these if possible please

The discs are unbranded so no idea if they're any good, they look nice but that doesn't really count for much when it comes to braking performance. Mintex pads are good though. I always buy Brembo discs since they are the only brand I've had which are consistently good quality and don't warp, I learned this when I had a VR6 Sharan which used to EAT front brake discs as well as drink petrol.

Drilled/grooved on a VRs that's still using OE brake set-up? Think about it, they're just reducing the surface area in contact with the pad, the only thing they'll do for you is trap dirt, increase noise and wear your pads more quickly (you could argue this may be a benefit as it deglazed the pad but if you're getting glazing you have other issues) putting them on the rear considering the brake force distribution and wear rates.... if that doesn't sound like marketing to you then buy them :)

On the other hand if you actually want to improve braking performance then change the fluid and buy a standard Bosch or Pagid disk set-up and some better pads or do the 312 upgrade and/or use a better pad and change the fluid. You'll get the better brake performance in road use and with the possible exception of the 312 upgrade it'll be cheaper.

OMG they look so BORING! I wants mine to wool wike a wacing car.

I have the ones in the link above and i really like them but if I'm being really honest, if i had my time again i'd go 312 all day  (cost around the same if you have a look about) and also with drilled and grooved, their proper noisy.  The ones above may look boring but they do the job well, its not all about the look dude

You're best off going on Eurocarparts online and getting Pagid discs and pads (general consensus on here is they are pretty good) and then using a discount code to get 25%, maybe more off the price.

Anyone??

They look right to me John

would be concerned that they don't list Audi TT fitment as they had 312s as well but ECP aren't the best for that

To OP i bought these when Mrs Pasty's standard Fabia needed new discs and pads all round

Evening all,

Sorry to hijack but didn;t want to start a new post.

I'm just looking at ECP and think I've found what I'm looking for but would appreciate it someone could confirm. They are for 312mm brakes on a vRS. The things I'm not particularly sure about is the Hole Arrangement/Number.

Many thanks

I bought these off the EuroCarParts eBay store and they fit absolutely fine.
