Hi all hopefully this is in the right area feel free to move if not,

my 2002 octy vrs has all of a sudden got a gear selection problem ,never had any problems before driving home after picking up my son not thrashing it cam up to a roundabout and the gearstick had gone stiff not allowing me to select 2nd gear ,back in to 3rd ok and drove home ok , then noticed a dull chinking noise from the gearbox area with my foot off the clutch ,no noise depressed, difficult to select 1st gear and quite difficult to get out of reverse, does not make any difference running or not,i have tried restting the gearlinkage with no effect ,when driving selects gear but you can feel a resistance going in to 1st /5th .

Car had a new luk clutch/flywheel/release bearing around 2 yrs ago or 10k miles

Any one know if there is a bearing or bush that fails in these boxes ??? 5speed standard box
