Aircon only works on max (4)

Greeting from Denmark.

My aircon has for some time been whinning when i have it on 1 or 2. When i set it to 3 or 4 then the whinning noice goes away.

Now it stops working on 1 to 3 but cool on 4.

Any idears?

I hope it is the right one. It have been raining so I havent tried to install i yet. Does anyone have a good guide on how to install the resistor in a Octavia 1 (1u2)?

Thanks for the help. it worked.

 

For anyone who should have the same problem. the resistor is below the glove compartment. No need to remove the glove compartment.

Hmmm The resistor broke down this morning and the blower only works on 4 again. I have squeeky noises from the cooler fans/engine so it could be that it is broken.

 

Any idears on what can make the resistor brake down so fast?

Perhaps there is some dirt or debris in the motor area restricting the motor operation causing it to draw more current than the resistor is designed to handle. I am not sure how to access this on the MK1 Octavia, but on a Fabia it is really easy.

Use a better quality part next time.I had a similar problem with an voltage regulator from Cargo wich lasted 2 months,now I bought a Bosch replacement and will last
