Yes, but it somehow got unnoticed, so I thought I'd bring up the subject again...

A Phaeton TDI V10 has a ridiculous 800 Nm. But that's a Superhero Diesel instead of a measly 1800cc turbocharged petrol four-pot.

Mine is a PD engine too, I thought? - I'm assuming every change is down to engine management, hence why my car should be able to whack out the same level of power (unless vRS engine components are different)

Hmm - so someone else has spotted TSR - I approached them about the remap, as they're hell of a lot closer to me than Jabba... Anyone had any experience with them?

Hmm...if it was a PD I'd've expected them to advertise it like mad...but I might be wrong, Skoda do have very subtle adverts... :D

446 Nm!!!

Are you sure you haven't got a diesel hidden somewhere in there?

Yes, we want that scanned dyno plot! :D

I did say that the automatic transmission had distorted the dyno plot!! Normal dyno runs are made with a single gear ratio, so there's a direct correlation between torque at the crankshaft and torque at the wheels. Mike couldn't stop the transmission shifting, and anyway the torque converter will be acting a bit like a variable gear ratio.

It looks really weird - the power and torque curves cross at 3600 RPM, not 5250

Rob.

I believe that the 100 bhp diesel engine in the Fabia is, in fact, PD.

As is the little 1.4 3cyl diesel in the Polo (cracking engine!!).

Oh right...didn't know the 100bhp one was PD.

Did know the 1.4 one was though, was looking at getting it in an A2...but as it turns out I have more sense than money...

Yes, you mentioned the distortion - the 446 Nm wasn't a serious figure anyway - but now I understand what happened. Remarkable all the same, though.

I'll slip this in quietly. Mines booked in to be Superchipped on Monday.:D Can't wait. It's an early birthday present from Mrs. rich1068. Bless her.

(Couldn't go for Jabba, my RS is leased and the owner is a Superchips agent. I just look at it like I'll be a member of a very exclusive club. Membership one.)

Didn't Jon run a Superchip for quite some time? :D

Bless her indeed. But don't let Howard see this...

I ran Superchip for 97,000 miles, no problem at all apart from toward the end it was getting a bit ragged in its delivery with slight surging. ChrisH also has/had one in his car.

No quite so exclusive ;)

:D

Don't know whether to :) or :(

Still no progress on the matter, Howard?

Err, yes and no.

Yes, there's progress.

No, I can't get the funds.

Bah.

Just the springs for the moment I think. I can comfort myself in the knowledge that diesel remaps are cheaper anyway @ Jabba, so maybe next year.

Service and new front boots are needed soon as well.

diesel remaps are cheaper.. in my book - sorry to all vRS owners who fork out

I'm sorry to hear that, Howard. :(

There's one thing I don't understand, though, and forgive me if I intrude with this or if someone has brought this up before.

You did both agree to indulge in the L&K luxury, which is neither "useful" nor "practical" and certainly more expensive than a remap. So where precisely is the snag? It's not the money per se, is it?

Congrat's Mike....told you it was addictive didn't I ?.....it does take some adjusting too all that extra performance -- it still takes me by suprise in third - where I expect/was used to it slowing -- it just takes off -- can't tell you what speed I hit the limiter at in third the other day......on the grounds I may incrimiante myself :D

Anyway glad you happy

For someone who wasn't going to be around for a couple of days -- where the hell did 670! come from

Good point, Mattijs, but....

When you take out a car loan over 5 years (as I had to as I was swapping Mrs Fen's as well), the difference between an Elegance and an L&K doesn't work out to be as much per month as you would think (especially as I got a VERY good price on the L&K).

Back to the remap. I have to find, straight out of my pocket, the

What would the world do without Polyfilla? OK, back to work for me - got to give you a chance to catch up and overtake again. ;)
