how to add remote central locking

Featured Replies

hi all, just wondering about upgrading my car so it has remote central locking, as i only have 2 keys that operate the locks only, so i was thinking if i get a central locking module from a car with the remotes and swap it to mine would that work? ir is it not as easy as that??

cheers

Have a look in the technical guides section, it's well documented :)

You don't mention the class of Fabia. If it's like mine ( Classic before a certain date and a hatch), the hatch has lever opening on the driver door sill. As the design of the hatch opener is dual ( for LHD /RHD) , there's an option to use the other side .Fit a motor in the spare wheel well and use a Bowden cable to connect ( I modified a bike brake cable). Then it's a motor for each door( maplin do a set of four anda controller for about £32, negative pulse to operate). For anyone not electronically inclined, Quasar electronics do ready built security remote units and key fobs . You will need three channels ( but I notice it's now 1,2 or 4).- 1 =lock. 2 =unlock, 3 = unlock hatch . I notice that the recievers ( working off the car supply ) are regulated for an input of 12 -15 v, so no problems there ,but I'd advise a system to power down the systerm when the ignition is on , although i had one of the early three channel ones permanantly wired in on mt 1.4TDI for a long time with no spike problems on a home brew power regulator.

Mine has a "selca" kit fitted :)
