Sorry, but some truths need to be outed here.

I had intented to run a Detailing/Tutional meet at my house...but due to being accused of being a Commercial user, I have not proceeded with this idea in case I get my posting restricted again

@Chris,

We discussed this, backroom and on the phone with you. You were/are running a repeated service for 150-200 per day. Even acknowledging you were not meant to advertise, but via pm's you approached/posted to other members, which was then subsequently reported to us, we didn't go looking for you

As you were offering your services as a detailer on two other sites, the staff identified you as a potentially commercial, under the current rules. You charge more for one day than I ask from supporters (commercial users ) for a year.  I've already stated it was never about the money, but the trust I gave you when you first came on offering this detailing service under a charity banner. One that I accepted and told you the boundaries of.  This trust/accord was broken by you and you still cry foul of me and the community.

Repeatedly misinforming makes my blood boil. I welcome the information you post and share. A I've said to you on the phone, there was an element of trust breached here. The reasons for the actions are clear and actioned on many, you are far from unique or special. You have a skill and charge money for it, because it's your hobby changes nothing.

You are still here because I see value in your community contributions. You might not be declaring income or setting up a ltd company, but you are/were/will be doing paid work.

You were contacted and I've spent a lot of time on the phone with you.  But you keep choosing to taunt and hawk back to ground we've gone over and in public, so this is why you have this open reply.

To the OP, I'm genuinely sorry for polluting your post.

I've had some genuine businesses in your area talking to me about sponsoring the site. If they do come on board, it will be great for all of us.

A few new features will be coming onstream to encourage smaller businesses to get involved. If you find anyone please do just drop me a PM, I'll talk to them and we'll see where we can get to.

Sounds really good that you have some potential local sponsors about to come online Colin!

Please do keep us posted

I used to love detailing when I was younger. I had a punto 1.2 16V sporting 1998 and it was detailed meticulously most weekends. Unfortunately children and work now take most of my time but i'm hoping to rekindle my love for CCO with the octy!

I've got a 1.0 citigo if you need something smaller to get started on :)

I actually thought a smaller car would be easier. All this detailing talk, I'm half tempted to go and get the clay bar out of the garage now. Might be relaxing :)

Never clay bar in anger!

.........does not end well

Yes, Autobrite do courses sometimes - I'm not too sure how frequently or to what degree they do these.

Personally, I'd recommend Gordon Muir at Defined Details. Gordon is one of the UK's top detailers and has more experience in group and one to one training than anyone else I can think of!

You can contact him directly or you will be able to find a thread of his on Detailing World's forum with details of the next one. Folk come from all over the UK and it's usially a small group - you'll have a great day!

If you want, I have details for him I can pass on to you? Just give me a shout if you want :)

I follow Gordon via his FB feed...... really awesome work - highly recommended!

I think its relaxing. I quite enjoy a good few hours or half a day cleaning. The best part is looking at the results afterwards.

Its amazing how something can go soo quickly from relaxing, to massively annoying and frustrating when it starts raining half way through though haha.

So,

There's a difference between polish and wax?

Yup

Wax takes a very small layer off your paint, in order to give you a shine, and wax adds a very thin glossy layer ontop

Im sure someone here could go into immense detail with that answer, but thats my simpletons form, because thats how i like things haha

Cheers mate.

I wrote that in a rush haha.
