Oil Question

Featured Replies

Just a quick question requiring a quick answer :

Had my Citigo serviced in the week, the service sheet says they used "Platinum" oil.

The oil level on the dipstick has settled to about halfway on the hatched area, is it ok to use the "Castrol Edge" oil that came with the car (in the black wallet in the boot" to top it up?

A speedy answer would be appreciated because i plan on topping up this morning.

Get back to the service garage and ask them to top-up to the correct level as part of their service, and free as you have already paid the bill??

Thanks, they are not there today though, being a Saturday, so i thought i'd do it myself.

Would it be ok to top up with the Castrol Edge?

I depends what grade it is?

It should be at least  VW 502.00

The oil that came with the car is fine.

Yes, it's the oil that came with the car that i want to top up with.

I'll check in a bit, but if its VW 502.00 then i'm good to go?

Yes, use the stuff that came with the car to top up.

No, to going back to the same garage for another service.

Question I would ask myself is there anything else they missed/ skipped if one of the fundamental jobs with the oil level was a bit lax..?

Check the pollen filter that's always a good indication as you'd be surprised at how many tick it off but don't do it!

Check the pollen filter?? We ARE talking about a FIRST service here, are we not?
