The Yeti took a hit from behind.

Featured Replies

SWMBO was sat at the junction of a roundabout waiting for a gap when a woman in a Golf who was behind her decided to floor it even though there was nowhere for her to go except into the back of the Yeti. SWMBO's OK so far, bit of a stiff neck :( Fortunately nothing more severe.

Car was taken to Sparshatts of Botley on the back of a transporter (she didn't want to drive it) where they assessed the damage and made sure it was OK to drive. Sparshatts know me pretty well and know I'm on Briskoda so, no charge  Fair play to them for that.

Car back home now on the drive waiting for the insurance people to deal with things.

Skoda Assist on the other hand, pants! No help at all despite SWMBO having the German equivalent of Skoda Assist from Skoda Germany. Their advice? Call Germany.

I'll update when we know more.

Definitely looking at a new bumper, trim, crash bar and alignment and see what they say :(

Oh dear - deep sympathy. The Yeti will be taken care of through channels but.....make sure Madam is fully medically assessed asap!

Oh dear hope it all processes through quickly Lee and that SWMBO is alright!

I wonder how long this is going to take to sort, a cross border insurance claim. The German insurance company will need claim of the UK one, it could take a while.

It's the same insurer who dealt with a household claim a while ago, Manny. They were very efficient back then so no reason to doubt their abilities.

Oh dear. Hope your wife doesn't suffer for too long.

Re Skoda Assistance; I think you will find that they specifically exclude ACCIDENT cover. Check the small print.

Just wait till the other driver accuses you of reversing at them.

Accident recovery
If the vehicle has been immobilised due to a road traffic
accident, ŠKODA Roadside Assistance will arrange for the
vehicle to be taken to an authorised bodyshop or the most
appropriate authorised ŠKODA Retailer or Repairer.

Must be the season for it. Some old lady on a battered up Clio managed to drive into ours at the weekend. Minor damage but more worrying that she didn't even realise she had done it.

I have noticed as the temperatures have risen the standard of driving has dropped.

One hand out the window one on the wheel? Kind of stuff!

Hope Mrs Lee makes a speedy recovery

Based on experience time to book an appointment with the doctor. Could be a lot more painful by Friday.

As per the text Lee hope everything is okay. If you need anything or whatever just the other end of the phone :)

That's a PITA mate, glad SWMBO's OK though   Reference earlier comment about insurance company being German, if that's anything to go by it'll be the twonks on this side of the water who don't know their 4rse from their elbow that will hold things up

like the twonks in Skoda Assist :wall:  The German side wanted to know what she was calling them for :wonder: She told them she called the UK first who told her to call them :D They spent half an hour on the phone to SAUK trying to sort everything out. SAUK couldn't have cared less. Her insurers will recoup the cost of the recovery. Of that I have no doubt ;)

Got any MkIs in in red and black

Had no issues with the old Golf when that broke down, VW (motability?) were brilliant and I fear this may push her back to a Golf.

yeah, we'll keep an eye on things, whiplash can sometimes take a few days to rear its head :(

hopefully should have some pics from the other party later; we'll see :wonder:

Yep, someone hit me and I felt alright at the time but one of the copppers said to make a doctors appointment as it would hurt a couple of days later.  Two days later I woke up and couldn't turn my head.

Yes, but the "get-out" is highlighted, and I know from experience that it has to be totally undriveable for them to arrange the movement.

there was fluid on the floor pointed out by a PC. SWMBO isn't a mechanic so told them she didn't know if it was or not. At the very least they should have sent someone to check.

I had an incident last September with a Polish lorry in my Superb and am still fighting to recover Excess, Expenses and Whiplash claim .  Signed papers recently now to go through the legal system.  Also insurers having to recover costs of repair through the legal system.  Foreign insurers often use UK based agents who are employed to get the claim paid for the lowest possible cost.  In my case I am not giving up and it is only costing them more.

Good advice from other posts.

Essential you keep a diary of all expenses, calls, medical treatments/visits, parking charges, hours spent off work etc.,  I have been assessed now by three different doctors all trying to dispute your claims for personal injury.  If you go down that route, which you are perfectly entitled to, be prepared for the long haul.

I sincerely hope SWMBO recovers from the shock and any stiffness quickly, it is not a pleasant experience.

I also fitted a Blackvue camera to avoid any threat of third party accusing me of backing into them etc.,

Evidence from my camera clearly shows other party at fault but still they wont pay up.

Terrible luck Lee - hope things get sorted, looks like a few parts to be replaced.

I had the same thing happen to me in Spain: waiting at a junction then bang!  Took photos of both cars at the scene, got the other driver to complete her section of the European Accident Statement and contacted LV insurance who were superb but it took eighteen months before my excess was refunded (the other driver was with Allianz). It all takes time and a lot of patience but, if you got the other drver's particulars, it should be straightforward. I was sure that she was on her mobile when she ran into the back of my car but could not prove it and there were no witnesses.

I hope that you are able to sort it out without too much hassle.

Looks like a bad smash. Glad the wifes ok, is she the horse rider to? Noticed the boots and crop in boot, my daughters have lessons every Sunday, and our Yeti's boot has helmets and body protectors hanging off the handy boot hooks.
