The new tyres arrived too. Michelin PS3's for the rear as I already have some on the front and really get on with them

Started fitting the new wheel. This is the original, my god it's ****ing hugeeeeee!

Shiny parts. Opted for a momo boss with it having the larger cut outs for all 4 plugs (2 airbags, 1 horn and 1 cruise control stalk) and also the self cancelling indicator tabs on the back.

Unclipped the airbag.

Then fitted the new boss.

16155812472_c062d7f325_b.jpg20141231_131429 by dann2707, on Flickr

Ordered an airbag light cancelling kit too that comes with a fused resistor. Luckily the momo boss came with one anyway, as I needed two that was spot on!

Fed it all through.

And all on. Really happy with the size (330mm), I couldn't imagine having the smaller 300mm one

Tyres are being fitted Friday and i've got a new Richbook ball gearknob on the way to fit to my Scenic gear stick with the StiffShift 3.0 kit that is also on its way! Ordered some RenaultSport mats from eBay too with black material, grey leather trim, grey logo and grey stitching hoping it's all going to take shape on the inside soon. Wallet has taken a right hammering lately but may as well do it now while i'm young before i'm constrained to having a mortgage, kids and wife lol

And got some Black series powerflex inner ARB bushes as mine are absolutely knackered. Can see the rubber has all cracked and split.

So my @Yanoo Stiff Shift 3.0 kit arrived :D Which as I posted before I was planning on fitting to a Megane Scenic shifter as it's longer.

Which is a good job really as last night I went bowling and whilst coming home this happened hahahah

16011144359_01324b5dbd_b.jpg20150104_130106 by dann2707, on Flickr

So anyway today I started fitting it. Fitting went fairly smoothly, I ended up snapping a tab that holds the lift up reverse cable to the actual shaft as I was fitting the kit, I was putting lots of pressure on it and it finally gave way and fitted into the gearstick housing and whilst doing so that's when one snapped. I fabricated a bracket though which works perfectly however for peace of mine I will just replace the lift up reverse bit on the shaft when I can.

Anyway, started removing the cat. Can't believe how easy this came off to say how rusted it looked. No problems what so ever. The gasket looked a little, worn though?? haha

Then undid the heatshield bolts and the 4 bolts holding the gearstick housing to the car along etc etc. Pic shows the difference in length

Went for a drive after and it feels amazing! Lovely and stiff but the best thing is that I can adjust how stiff I want the gear changes. Before, I could wobble the gearstick when it was in gear in every direction but now it barely moves at all. Very very happy! Just waiting on my gearknob now to finish it all off :)

I remember your Ibiza and wondering if you had an update.

This is great dan, I really think this is one car I should tick off the list.

I seriously think you could write a great thread on eating a packet of crisps. I do love your threads mate, well written and detailed.

Can I ask why it's longer than standard? Don't you usually fit shorter shifters?

The shaft is longer but the pivot point is also raised up with it so it doesn't actually change the throw, it feels exactly the same when changing gear in terms of short/long shifters. But as it's raised now you no longer have to reach down to change gear as it's level with your arm. Much like an MX5 and S2000 gearstick layout.

Wow, thanks a lot mate!! I might have to try the crisps thing hahaha

Have you had a go in one yet mate? You'll be hooked if you do!

Excellent detail on this thread and a job very well done, first I've come across this but will keep an eye on it.

Thanks Skoda saint! Keep an eye on it in a few weeks as the v6 spoiler should be going on soon :D

My spray friend has just sent me some pics of the v6 spoiler. It hasn't reacted this time :D and i'm picking it up Friday!! Too excited

The amount of time he's spent prepping it and painting it is awesome. He's been updating me every other day despite being caught up in opening a new spray shop which i'm so grateful for.

I'm so tired writing this right now - went straight from work with my mate who I know from college who is doing his PhD in the same building as me at work. Had such a laugh driving down, it really made the journey awesome.

We initially went from Leeds to Chesterfield to pick up the exhaust, then from there to Nottingham to pick up the spoiler and i'm so impressed with the work! Definitely worth the wait.

We then came home, dropped my mate off and started removing the bumper so it's been quite a long day. Here are some ****ty snapchat pics

I have a day off monday so should be fitting everything then

It's all on! Massively not happy with the fitting of it due to the threads in the spoiler. They just seem so weak and although it's on fairly sturdy, tightening them was sketchy as I didn't overtighten them as to not pull the helicoils out. For those who have this spoiler you'll know what I mean.

More pics of the car without the rear bumper on, it looks ridiculous haha car looks like it's got mad camber too even though all it has is rear spacers on.

The fact that the car doesn't have a rear bumper on kind of removes the impact it has on the overall look and apologies for the same sort of pics over and over but it's been 2 months i'm having a bit of a binge of pics. Cheers!

Today was fairly productive despite going out last night, i'm hungover to **** so thought car stuff might sort me out but it hasn't I just want to curl up and fall asleep lol - got home at 1pm today so cracked on with the exhaust. Really easy to fit however the olive joint where it attaches to the cat is blowing slightly.

I will no doubt go down the welding a sleeve on it in the near future - just need to research it all first :)

I jacked the car up and tried wiggling the original exhaust out but it's fairly tight in there so I dropped the rear beam which was easy enough.

I then retired into the comfort of my bedroom to start on creating a wiring loom for the cruise control buttons, as I now have an after market steering wheel the buttons on the original wheel can't go neatly anywhere so my plan is, and totally copying @George182 's wheel i'm going to do the same! But to detract my blatant stealing of ideas i'm going to write up a guide for how the loom is created as hopefully it should help others in the situation I was in.

This is what i'll be doing:

c0c6b97c4803abd2f95beab7a1820ddb.jpg

Apologies if the pics are rubbish.

First things first - A little list of what you need:

A soldering iron.

16233971699_b0541e7b3e_b.jpg20150201_154231 by dann2707, on Flickr

Some flux to clean up the connections (not really required), solder and some very worn crimping tools. You also need (not pictured) some slide terminals male and female (8 male 8 female)

16234293427_a816e44f3b_b.jpg20150201_154256 by dann2707, on Flickr

Your original loom from the cruise control buttons to the yellow connector.

3 resistors. I have loads here as you had to buy so many at a time.

You need the values of:

910 ohms

100 ohms

274 ohms

These were all bought on eBay for a total of around £4

16418459861_5523517ae1_b.jpg20150201_154341 by dann2707, on Flickr

Heatshrink - eBay again for £2 or so delivered

16234320217_0f7037bd80_b.jpg20150201_154356 by dann2707, on Flickr

Loads of wire and a weird looking thumb

15800192333_e5182ae0b1_b.jpg20150201_154406 by dann2707, on Flickr

A big ol' mother****ing cup of hangover beating liquid

16232594688_19a4947db8_b.jpg20150201_154423 by dann2707, on Flickr

Some "push to make" buttons. I got these dimpled ones as they look much better imo. eBay again - £6. Buy ****ing everything on eBay, we actually bought our conservatory on eBay hahaha not even joking.

15797772504_60f4204046_b.jpg20150201_154533 by dann2707, on Flickr

Thanks to @1812lsd for the pic. Basically this is how everything is going to be wired. The lines that are to the right of the resistors are the buttons.

IMAG0245.jpg

First you want to cut off the original buttons leaving you the bare wires, you will then bare back the copper wires.

15797763504_e9e99a4b04_b.jpg20150201_154511 by dann2707, on Flickr

Now cut off some wire - don't do too much or too little. You will want 8 pieces here not 4 as shown. That was just to show what size im cutting.

16234053849_a73e7377f3_b.jpg20150201_154955 by dann2707, on Flickr

You have 8 wires, 2 for each button as shown here. Solder them onto the buttons now.

16232638878_c54a5e0872_b.jpg20150201_155941 by dann2707, on Flickr

16234077159_b969921218_b.jpg20150201_161703 by dann2707, on Flickr

Now as per the original sketch further up, you need to solver a resistor to one leg of the buttons. One button doesn't actually require a resistor on it so just leave that. I then soldered 3 really small bits of wire after the resistor legs as shown further down. This is for the crimping connectors to grab onto something as it won't grab a thin resistor leg.

16232657378_03eb4bdfc4_b.jpg20150201_162442 by dann2707, on Flickr

Now heatshrink the resistors  as shown.

16232664738_891d377f28_b.jpg20150201_163741 by dann2707, on Flickr

Now what you need to do is attach male or female connectors to every wire on this bit you've been working on. The reason behind this is so that they can be undone from the loom and fed through the holes i'm going to drill in the steering wheel. If they were permanently soldered you don't be able to do this.

16420326685_e1a2f29501_b.jpg20150201_164343 by dann2707, on Flickr

16418575861_ff78873335_b.jpg20150201_164348 by dann2707, on Flickr

Now cut off more wire, around this size. You need 8 pieces

16234437827_725c7814d2_b.jpg20150201_164511 by dann2707, on Flickr

Now grab your original loom and get the 2 grey wires, bare them back, and solder the 4 pieces you just cut off to them. 2 pieces of yellow wire in my case to 1 grey strand so overall you have 4 pieces - in this step you are essentially turning 2 wires into 4 :)

16232702618_af4be24f07_b.jpg20150201_165431 by dann2707, on Flickr

Now do the same with the green wire!! Extending it from 2 wires to 4 wires :) And crimp your other slide connectors to these wires!

16418608671_60a04daaf9_b.jpg20150201_170942 by dann2707, on Flickr

All done! now you simply need to hook up everything.

For each button - One grey wire goes to one button leg, one green wire goes to the other button leg.

16420398655_154d960178_b.jpg20150201_171421 by dann2707, on Flickr

15800375283_90b8f8de4f_b.jpg20150201_171542 by dann2707, on Flickr

Hope this helps anyone reading and I apologise if something I have done isn't orthadox in terms of soldering etc - I haven't properly soldered since year 11 at school which was 8-9 years ago!

There might be too much wire too but that can easily be sorted out when I go to fit it tomorrow. i'll update with more pics tomorrow when it's on the car.

One thing, I'm not actually sure which resistor does what in terms of cruise control so i'm going to have them loose and press them when on a run to distinguish which button does what.

I hope it works... lol

More progress. I haven't stopped today it's been madness!

I started by doing the steering wheel controls :)

Here is the wheel, unmolested for the time being

16402940956_72b9d0a851_b.jpg20150202_111717 by dann2707, on Flickr

I then got some duct tape and went over the whel where i'm thinking of having the buttons. I put it nice and parallel with the stitching as you can see. Doing this means you can write on it, mark where you want to drill without doing it on the wheel itself. Seems so simple but it really works :)

16243019557_93287166e8_b.jpg20150202_112337 by dann2707, on Flickr

I then equally spaced two holes and drilled them lightly to make a mark

16402954076_6041d2ea18_b.jpg20150202_114835 by dann2707, on Flickr

15806427234_ea051e1cf4_b.jpg20150202_114852 by dann2707, on Flickr

The buttons are now in. I really think i've ****ed it up by having too large of a diameter button as i've taken a lot out of the wheel (not shown in the pics) but I think it might weaken it over time.

In hindsight I would have drilled the holes further to the centre of the wheel for strength so i've learnt from my mistake so hopefully you guys don't have to.

16402968456_54a4ee1478_b.jpg20150202_120447 by dann2707, on Flickr

But they're all on anyway :)

16427191611_052c00781f_b.jpg20150202_130933 by dann2707, on Flickr

I then hooked it all up as per the loom yesterday. Sorted :D

Whilst doing that I saw someone pull up to my drive - guess who it was and what was dropped off :D

I can't believe it was only £120 for it all. The quality is absolutely incredible. This was the same guy who messed me around before.

Then fitted it. Really easy to put back on. It's finally all come together :D!!! haha

I then jacked up the front and went to fit my washer blanks. Pics got a little bad here as I just cracked on. I will get more pics later after the gym

Whilst the car was jacked up I started to remove the old ABS ring, so had to remove both ball joints, hub nut, hub knuckle bolts!

How did you find the rear exhaust mounts? Their ****e lol. I used the polly mounts in mine.

Not too bad mate, changed them a few months back and they're ok as I reinforced them with rubber piping! How's your car anyway mate? It doesn't seem two minutes ago when I was asking you what 182's were like over email when mapping the ibiza, do you remember? hahah

Got a few pics of the weekend. I got my car tracking and corner weighting done as above so got a few from there. Car is filthy but nice and used haha

These were the final values for the corner weighting, it was the first time they'd done it and we were kind of left to our own devices so not sure if it's set up perfectly?! Totally new to this.

Then today I set about fitting a new rear number plate light cover as mine was faded a bit. I've waxed this one prior to it going on

I then cracked on making the mount for the track day that i've got coming up

Initially drilled some holes

For this u bracket

Then made them bigger

Then voila! Some how managed to get the distances wrong a little bit so it's not bang on central where the U bracket clamps for the headrest pole but it's fine it's absolutely solid. really pleased with it to say how easy and cheap it all cost.

Then the super grip is in place :)
