can you buy tinted rear lights for a vRS octavia?

To my knowledge NO you can't get tinted rear light's,you can't get Lexus style ones either !!

You could change them slightly -- a couple of us have already -- by replacing the indicator bulbs with the silvered type offered by phillips --- www.powerbulbs.com

Somewhere on here I've seen an Octavia with the new Passat rear lights. That looked good.

Lateral thinking mode...maybe you can get tinted Passat lights?

You can't get tinted rears for the Octy, and the Passat ones don't come that way either as far as I know.

If anyone knows different, let me know, as it'd be useful as I get asked this a fair bit.

Someone did fit standard Passat lights to rear of Octavia - although not in UK - and from what I remember it wasn't straghtforward either :eek:

I can imagine... different unit entirely I think, not an easy job.

Dont the passat clear lenses fit the octavia?

Just the lenses... or the whole unit?

Again if I remember correctly this was one of the main problems -- the bulb's are in different spots - so you have to use the Passat bulb holder as well -- and then.....re-wire the Octavia to match!! - sounds like an accident waiting to happen to me!

That's what I recall Dave, the lenses themselves appear the same but the unit requires the car to be rewired. Messing about, that is.

Yeah the whole unit, im not too keen on back end.

Whole unit, you'll need to rewire; as Dave says, the bulb points are in different places, and I also think the unit doesn't *quite* fit the socket... but could be wrong

oh well, i just fancied the two clear stripes to be black tinted, or at least see what it looked like.

are the new vRS grille surrounds colour coded or still chrome?

IIRC you would also have to remove the body coloured strip that runs beneath each lense....the Passat units a longer/taller.

You can probably tint the clear strip...I think Halfords do something.

Seen a RS local to me with a black grill surround.....car was Rally Red and it looked pants IMHO.

i wasnt sure if the grlle was now the same colour as the car
