I went with someone to buy a used M3 today for £31,000,

but before getting a salesman the receptionist asked if she could help, and i said we were looking but might be interested in a New M2.

She called an obviously busy sales person, and relayed the message, Next March before they are out.

But that is one in the video playing on the Screen on the wall.

So we went someplace else without asking about seeing a salesperson,

and bought a M3 for £34,000.

I hope the salesperson in Aberdeen reads this forum, and realises that was you that lost the sale.

You just had to say to the receptionist to tell us, someone will be with you as soon as they can.

Shame they didn't make time to come and see you for whatever reason, their loss I guess! Was the sales guy aware you had come to potentially buy the old M3 on the forecourt or did they think you were just after an M2?

The M2 has been unveiled and dealers can take a deposit to express an intention to order but build slots aren't yet available and first deliveries won't be until April we are told.

They knew nothing,

just some scruffs at the reception desk with as much money available in instant cash as a good salesman earns in a year.

(we do not all polish shoes and wear nice ironed shirts and drive 'Management Cars' as perks.)

I hope he or she on the end of the phone has a good sales quarter up to the New Year.

Always shake my head when I hear of sales people judging customers on appearance etc. Soooo many lost sales that way. Not just specific to car dealerships though. Estate agents can be particularly snobby in that regard.

So possibly may be dipping my toe in the shallow end of the baby big engined 1 series. Thinking about going to look at a 56 plate 130i. Reviews all rave about it more owner based then magazine it seems.

Do we have the ability to configure an M2 on a BMW website.( German or UK)

 

Would be good to structure a real spec'd price, before expressing an interest at dealers.One assumes they have done their market research related to potential Worldwide sale volumes.

It is BMW, they design and build fast desirable cars, get the hype in the magazines and online and people buy them, in big numbers even in the UK.

 

Now that is something Audi need to manage in the UK, rather than Registering them as Demonstrators and then

struggling to get anyone to buy them used, or even selling that many new..

You mean like the 50 M3 saloons nationally used /demo less than1year old.

Currently 38 Audi RS3 used/demo.

There are at least 15 i know of used M3 60- 65 plate Demonstrators  for sale within 50 miles of me, Coupe (2 door) , Saloon (4 door), & Convertible, at least 5 under 6 Months old.

 

How many 15 & 65 Plate M3's are there that people are happily driving in the UK, and are not advertised for sale?

It shows as 121 2015 RS3 First Registered in the UK Q1,

i believe Q2 was about 220 cars,   but that might be wrong.

I have bought an Audi A4 3.0tdi, Merc 350CDi and my current M135 all with the first visit being on my way back from work. As I work outdoors a lot, I am certainly no "Shoe shiner". In general I have found there to be little difference in the rate that dealerships meet and greet you. Possibly the exception being very high end dealers (Bentley and such like). My old Bauer Millet boss once applauded me for talking to a homeless chap who used to walk past the dealership frequently and admire the cars. As the boss said, you can't read a book by it's cover. Mind you, the chap never bought a car of anyone as far as I could tell.

This is a bit of fun, it's a 360 video of a quick lap in an M2. The driver is a bit too gushing about the car, but that aside, it's good. It seems to run up to the speed limiter very easily (in this case raised to 168mph!)   If anyone hasn't seen one of these before, it's best viewed using a Chrome browser.

New mate. Won't say anymore for now but will give an update once I get a build date etc :-)

Think it will be another bmer, Tom would be crazy to consider anything VAG while all the emissions thing is still not resolved.

Good negotiations basis for a VAG product though. I'm hearing that VW won't be alone soon with emissions and such problems.
