  • Right, this is getting ridiculous now.   I really do feel sorry for Tom, as his thread is being constantly spoilt by off topic arguments.   Can the people involved please no longer post if it is d

  • Ok so here it is, side by side comparison of M-Perf and Stock M135i exhausts. A mate of mine owns the white car, the grey one is mine. :-)

hope you don't mind me posting all this guff in our thread Tom, but I got my car back from the detailers and the result is superb. Super shiny and ultra reflective. The coating has teeny flecks of gr

Not a fan of the hatchback tbh,the coupe looks so much better and more sporty .

Are the coupe still available?

The M135i is a relative bargain.Base manual models can be had for around £25k with current levels of discount, so in the same ballpark as the Octy 3 vRS. :-)

Yeah but how much was yours? ;)

Lad at works just collected one same colour, same leather and gearbox for £38k

They either spec'd it to the heavens or they failed to get a discount.

Are the discounts that freely available? Used models are going for 19k upwards..if a new one can be had for 25k I know what I'd choose.

I think 10% is readily available to most casual hagglers.

Coupe is available badged M235i.

Mine was £36k list and I paid £29.5k after discount. ;-)

I worry your lad at work has been properly shafted....

To pay that much, even if it was one of the first LCi versions, would have been well over £40K in total. Probably 75% of the options list on it. now that the dust has settled on the facelift, the amount of car you could buy for £38K is quite impressive (possibly with a LSD?)

LSD and mperformance carbon etc push them up massively.

Personally I don't get the carbon thing. The weight saving of a carbon cover wing mirror is negligible and yet the cost!!!! Far better to spend it on an MPE ;)

Tom got a great deal on his M135, but the poor chap who paid £38K seems to have either over specified his car or not got any meaningful discount. You could carbon up (a bit), LSD, Auto, MP Steering wheel etc and still have change form £38K if you haggle hard. Having said that, it would be a hell of a car :)

Thanks Keith, funnily enough I was looking at this car over the weekend. I'm down in Oxford with work tomorrow, was half thinking about swinging by for a nosey.

I do want one with a manual box, 5 door and in blue..... But I've heard that the gear change is a bit rubbish for a manual. I guess i'd have to drive one to see!

Ally,

Did you get an opportunity to take a look?

Ally,

I didn't, it turned out to be a pretty manic day. Had to put work first and be the ultra professional that I am........

Hopefully it'll still be around the next time I'm visiting.

Stockport Williams have a M135, M235 and a M235 convertible in their used showroom. Better be quick, it will be winter in a few months time and you  know what that means............................:D

To be honest, I bought the 320 as I wanted a coupe of years cheapish motoring while I did the usual grown up things of buying a house etc etc...

Now I'm getting itchy feet as the M135i's are venturing into the area I can afford. First world problems indeed. Decisions, decisions.

Having spent a day driving one of those 2 series active grand tourer mpv thingies, I can say don't buy one unless you have a family to drag about. It is a nice competent car, much in the mould of a Golf SV. Similar size performance etc, but like the Golf SV it is a soulless place to live :( Don't know if they do a performance version yet, but please stop making FWD cars BMW and stick to what you do best.

Ally,

As you infer there is plenty of time to get the right one at the best deal. Best of luck soon. Keith.

Funny you should say that, I  had one of those beauties the other week while my car was in for a service...... I hated everything about it apart from the nifty rev matching on the downshifts!

I liked the space up front, it's huuuuuggggeeeeee and lots of glass, as well as a sublime auto gearbox. the rest of it is OK I guess The little 3 cylinder engine is quite sweet but it feels really out of its depth in the 2 series bus.

Was impressed by storage too, most certainly a family orientated car! MPG wasn't great and it just felt a bit bland round the bends.

They've just been added to our company car list - 20 variants to choose from in diesel:

BMW 2 Series Tourer 216 Gran Tourer 1.5d 116 DPF SS EU6 Luxury Nav Plus 6Spd   £28,985.00 108 £173.91

BMW 2 Series Tourer 216 Gran Tourer 1.5d 116 DPF SS EU6 M Sport 6Spd   £28,590.00 111 £181.07

As a change from a Touran it would be good for someone but a 116bhp M Sport, really?

So went to have a look at 135i on way home from work today, sadly they have sold it!

Did have a quick look at the 65 plate 340i AWD tourer, thats a nice looking bit of kit, always have a soft spot for fast estates!

Found this little video today. It's of the M235 with some MP bits, but the best bit is the exhaust sound, which I would say has been recorded at speed but with some form of Rycote Windjammer on the mic. It makes a big difference and the clarity of the noise is great.

VROOM VROOM

It will sound much as this one then.

Not really. The difference with the little vid I posted was the sound is recorded on the move. Usually the sound sufferers from excessive LF wind intrusion. Maybe it's because I'm a sound engineer I'm a bit picky :D

You drive the car with your BMW enhanced sound inside the car do you not,

and only cows and sheep and cyclists hear what happens out the tail pipe unless a sound recordist has it recorded for you.

I can hear the external MPE from inside the car very easily in Sport and Sport+ mode thank you :) and with the windows wound down it's an even more epic sound track :) :)

Can't say how much fun you can get from the MPE, possibly the best option I've ever fitted to a car :)
