  • Right, this is getting ridiculous now.   I really do feel sorry for Tom, as his thread is being constantly spoilt by off topic arguments.   Can the people involved please no longer post if it is d

  • Ok so here it is, side by side comparison of M-Perf and Stock M135i exhausts. A mate of mine owns the white car, the grey one is mine. :-)

hope you don't mind me posting all this guff in our thread Tom, but I got my car back from the detailers and the result is superb. Super shiny and ultra reflective. The coating has teeny flecks of gr

Each to their own George. I appreciate you enthusiasm though and I'm sure that it's good but just not for me right now. When are you getting your Mini ,as you have tested a few lately?

Tom,

Congratulations on your new acquisition .

Have an enjoyable and fun ,Christmas and New Year mate.

Auto not manual, is the only surprise for me.

Thanks Keith. I went in originally planning to get a manual but tried the Auto and was pleasantly surprised at how excellent it was. The manual was fun (especially the rev-matching feature) but decided it had to be the auto again. Maybe I'm getting old lol! I think I might have regretted not getting the auto on all those commutes sat in heavy traffic. Plus Mrs-Furbytom tried the auto and loved it so that sealed the deal :-)

Fully understand Tom, honesty is best policy though - Missus rules okay!! lol

I took a cooper SD auto out a couple of months ago and it was a hoot. I couldn't justify the cost though. I liked the JCW version too.

Fantastic choice and the auto is top notch!

That's the JCW-pro Bluetooth valved exhaust. Would absolutely love one of those! With the valve activated it's effectively a straight-through system. Sounds awesome on the vids I have seen of it. Not cheap though at £1600 with chrome tips and £1800 for the carbon tips. Keeps warranty intact however.

With the valve active it's meant for track use only. My mini-dealer mate says when they sell one they make you sign a disclaimer form to promise you won't use it on the road lol!

That one was on a Demonstrator that the Dealership was in no hurry to sell, it is fully loaded.

Is it time to set up Mini Cooper S JCW topic now Tom,leading up to your delivery and your 1st review.

Sounds like my kind of option. Didnt you spec that?

Ive lost baffles in many bike exhausts. They just disapear. Odd really ;):D

The budget couldn't quite stretch to that at the moment lol. Think I'll run around on the standard 'zorst for at least the first 6 months then see about an upgrade hehe

Haha yeah good plan.

It is alot of money really isnt it!

Clubman though.

Theres only 1 mini i like, n thats the normal hatchback.

And im not sure whacking 350bhp 4x4 in a normal mini would be a good idea anyway.

Whats good about the GP is the weight, sharp handling and a nice balance of power. Just makes it a fun FWD hatch that you can really push, and it really does handle pretty damn good for a little car.

Afraid to say but the only thing i like about that is the colour. :|

I'd love to see one of those if/when they release it. Might be a way off yet though. :-)

It's the trouble with buying a new car. If you held out for the 'next best thing' you'd never buy a car in the first place. I remember the discussion on a different forum going on about the new M140 when I got my 135 :D In fact when I got my C350, the next gen (W205 model) was being talked about and I wondered if it would mean I lost a lot of equity on my PCP deal. As it turned out the new model took an age to arrive and by the time it was actually available to the public I had done the deal for the 135 :)

From what I have read from you over the years , I'm sure that none of this will trouble you Tom, as you are likely to get people showing you lots of 'links' to things you could have bought, should have bought and Minis that are coming and are faster than yours'.

Yeah I never really wait for "the next best thing", just get what I like at the time lol. Life is too short.

For me it never really comes down to 'stats' etc. Top trumps doesn't really bother me and I know you feel the same Amanda. I could have got an RS3 this time around (SWMBO would have happily authorised the purchase) but the little JCW was so much more fun for a fraction of the cost!

If I miss the M135i too much I can always chop the Fabia in for one and give Mrs-Furbytom the Mini hehe ;-)

I must admit I love the looks of the new Fiat 124 Spyder. Its like a mini 'F type' and if it drives as well or better than the MX5 who knows what I might do next time :)

I wonder why BMW chose to put the 8 speed box on the 2.0 in the BMW and the 6 speed box in the Mini?

Aisin say the box's are a similar size.

Wouldn't the mini be too narrow as the engine is turned 90 degrees in it?

Wouldn't the mini be too narrow as the engine is turned 90 degrees in it?

The 225i Active Tourer uses the 2.0 in transverse layout with 8 Speed Aisin Auto.

The Mini uses the 2.0 in transverse layout with 6 speed Aisin Auto.

Both 2 Series Active Tourer and Mini use the same UKL1 FWD platform

Aisin says the 6 and 8 speed boxes are the same size so no reason it shouldn't fit.

I know Mini did trial the ZF 9 speed transverse gearbox but BMW chose Aisin with a mix of 6 or 8 speed versions.

Sorry Lee, I misunderstood you. After finding out the engine was the same as in the RWD BMWs, I thought you were thinking of the ZF gearbox replacing the 6 speed. Doh!

That would stick out of the side of the engine bay about 2 ft. ;)  :D
