Had a mutual admiration moment today at a junction. I was out in the Mk1 Escort, and a guy in a minty Pug CTI.

Am seriously considering buying an 80/90's 'classic' of late. Had 2 205's a handful of various Novas, Mk1 and 2 Golfs and an R5 GT back in the days of being a boy racer and always regretted selling them. I think once my bathrooms finished and I'm back to work properly I might set the wheels in motion - but I've also got a hankering for a VW Camper

Get both ;)

My driveway and front garden would be rammed with everything from a red top Nova to an XR2i, a split screen Dub to a Delorean if funds would permit  I think SWMBO would do her pieces though, now there's a thought

I had a fairly young bloke wind his window down whilst stationary at the traffic lights, in his very early Polo to say how nice my Festa looked. :sun:

Nice when that happens, and then I get my not so friendly BMC specialist grease monkey telling me that a Mk1 Festa is just an old and undesirable banger, not a classic.

The old man knocked the drive into the front garden and at one stage had 8 cars on the property :giggle: mum wasn't happy!

They never are fellah. They just do NOT understand our passions and desires. :dull:

Life does NOT begin and end at the gates of bloody B and Q.

  Meanwhile..................

So sad that you whippersnappers never got to witness the fantastic group B stuff in full competition back in the fantastic 80's.

Believe me when i tell you it was spine tingling stuff watching and listening to this and many other PROPER rally cars on full chat and flow in the forests of the UK.

I'm one of the privileged old farts that did, and boy did we enjoy it!

I've been in a Metro 6R4 I'm not sure how to describe it without swearing though :notme: rapid to say the least!

You do seem to lead a very varied busy and interesting life young Toxi. Most excellent if i may say so.

I live in walking distance of where the world rally had a stage 3 years ago and is used by rally instructors and also for other offroad events!

I'll be going to that then if I'm not working

Me too possibly  if the weather is reasonably settled.

May have to stay b&b the night before as it's a fair ole hike for a 9am start.

Old gits get knackered more easily you know.

'6R4 nicky' is a member in here that I've conversed with, who can tell bore you ALL about 6R4's.

Hope he pops in sometime to add his valuable thoughts and opinions.

I think that is probably a better way of putting it! lol

It would be great to have you guys come along to the event, as I am co-ordinating the 6R4s 30th anniversary celebrations. Be nice to meet some fellow members off here, and chat about 6R4s and also how much better rallying back in the 70's and 80's was compared to the current wrc etc :)

You've not seen my project thread then ..... Have a look in the link in my signature, basically it had an electrical malfunction which damaged most of the loom and engine components so is now a 1.8T project! Have a read : http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/317755-toxicvrs-mk1-fabia-thread/

Get an non GTi 205 shell, but an Mi16 in it and get the camper to trailer it to track days?

That way you have an excuse for it.

I had a 309 GTI "5 door" dropped an Mi16 engine in it and had spax coilovers on it. Jesus that was quick.

Mate of mine had the 205 CTI 1.9. that was absolutely mint.

The bx GTi 16 was a bloody hoot. :)

The cti always worried me a bit, what with all that extra flex.
