Estate rear bumper protection

I got a boot protector plus a fold out flap.  I'm happy with it - but it does not come out as far as the picture.  Maybe it would if you fitted it differently to the way I have! (tucked under the boot mat - they provide a sticky Velcro ribbon you can stick to the car)
