:( sad news!

Very sad news. We were chatting to him a couple of years back on Rally GB and he was a genuinely nice guy. A great loss for the WRC :(

Chris

i hope our thoughts are with his family :(

:( Very Sad news alright, its a tragic loss. Having seen him on the TV coverage many times he was a great ambassador for the sport & seemed a very genuine guy.

R.I.P. Michael

:( Sad news indeed

:( Terribly sad news.

We all know that motorsport is dangerous and things like this sadly do happen, but when it does happen it brings home just how dangerous it really can be.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends. :(

hard to say anything meaningfull

we all know its a dangerous game but you can never be prepared for news like this - just hope no-one here was there - seeing / dealing with something like this can be deeply upsetting :(

Sad news indeed. :(

Thoughts with his wife and two kids.

Never heard of him before today but sad to see anyone become a casualty of motorsport.

I feel for his family, too.

ITV rally TV programme did the sensitive thing and had no coverage of today and just did a small tribute, as did the other drivers and co-drivers by holding a subdued minutes silence on the victory ramp. :)

The Peugeot Team manager looked like he was gonna cry - very emotional.

very very sad.

Thoughts with his family and Kids, very sad indeed :(

my thoughts are with his family, a sad sad day.:(

Very sad news. My thoughts are with his wife and kids.

Also got to sympathise with his driver - Markko Martin. I can't begin to think how he must be feeling at the moment.

I was watching the rally yesterday, when they said what had happened. My thoughts are with the family.

They all know the risks, they all do things we can only dream of doing but when something as tragic as this happens & to such a nice guy it really brings it home to you & at a relativly young age as well

Sympathies naturally go to his Wife, his Children & imediate family who will never replace him but as Andy said also to Marko, how you deal with that I just dont know let alone having to deal with it in the Public spotlight.

sad news :(

Sad indeed. Thoughts also with Martin who will have I suspect some very very hard moments to overcome, not only now, but at many corners in the future.

Simple mistakes or accidents haunt even the strongest of minds, especialy so with friends and family at the hub of it.

Not been around to post since the weekend.

Not much to add really, we all know the risks of this kind of thing happening but it's something we try not to think about.

His wife has published the following to everyone.

Marie, Victoria, William and all of Michael's family wish to thank everybody in the World of Rallying, in Britain, Internationally and in particular Estonia, for their kind words and messages of love and support.

It is impossible to respond personally to everybody, but we really appreciate the genuine kindness at this difficult time.

Michael Park's funeral will be held at 12.00pm on Thursday October 6 at St Bartholomew's Church, Much Marcle, Ledbury, Herefordshire.

Messages of condolence should be sent to [email protected]

These will be collated, bound and presented to the family after the funeral.

**Incidentaly I'm totally disgusted with Motorsports News for having the picture of the aftermath on the front page**

totally agree

Normally get autosport and sometimes Motoring news but certainly wont get MN this week because of that

no need to see a picture of such a tragic happening :(

I like you was shocked at the cover picture - didn't buy it - autosport also had a similar photo on the cover and as a regular reader felt I had to have a go :

I sincerely hope that I am just one of many writing to demonstrate their disgust of your cover photo of this weeks issue.Knowing about the tragic accident that killed Michael is bad enough but decent motorsport fans simply do not need to see images like that!

Obviously it is the news of the week but surely you could have done something tasteful? Maybe a photo of Michael but to show the car with the rescue crews apparently still in attendance is morally appalling - do you honestly think that was in good taste? If you havn't got the heart to avoid showing it for consideration of the crew and familes involved what about the officials ?.I have been involved in a severe injury accident as an official and it does have a very big effect - surely they wouldn't want to see that either?

I am a regular reader and have been for a considerable time' date=' sadly my wife got this issue for me , if I had seem the cover i would not have bought it and to be honest I will be getting next week in the hope you have the decency to react to this ( and other ) critisism in an appropriate manner beyond next week any future purchase is in your hands

I am disgusted you could stoop so low - shame on you

Maybe if others think alike a few more letters would be suitable ?
